GOTY 2004: Retrospective

Now 2004...2004 was a goddamn year for video games. Some of these probably make me seem like a kid. And I still was, so fuck you, I loved all these back then.

Onwards!

List items

  • Played on PS2

This is probably my least favourite Metal Gear Solid game, but goddamn, even Hideo Kojima's least engaging effort is better than anything anyone else can produce.

    Also, The Ladder. Never forget.

  • Played on PS2

For a long time, I considered Burnout 3 to be the most perfect example of a video game ever made. In a lot of ways I still do.

    Also, killer fucking soundtrack.

  • Played on PS2

Samuel L. MotherFucking Jackson and Chris Penn are the bad guys. Thaaaat's about it.

  • Played on PS2

I loved this game about as much as the original Getaway, but the reason it's further down this list is that it's the exact same game. Like seriously, there's nothing new about this one at all. Except is was significantly easier.

YO I WATCHED A LOT OF JACKASS AS A KID AND BAM MARGERA WAS IN THIS GAME AND I WAS ALL LIKE WHAAAAAAT?!

  • Played on PS2

Up until Batman Arkham Asylum came out, this was arguably the greatest superhero video game ever made. It was really good.

Of course this is number seven. You see? Because he's...

Willem Dafoe is the bad guy and there are nano machines.

    Just...come on.

    THAT GODSMACK RIFF!

  • Played on PS2

Jak 3 never really clicked with me too much. It just seemed to be missing some of the style and pizzaz that Jak II had. Also, pick a numeric style and fucking stick with it!

I hear that Killzone was kinda bad, but my friends and I fucking duuuug this shit way back in the hizay.
