Why not both? You shouldn't let the YLOD deter you... like what if you copped the RROD with the XBOX? Seriously, would you then jump back to PS3? I understand how you feel, but I believe you might be making an irrational decision. Also, it depends on how much you want the 1st party exclusives; I think the PS3 has one over the Xbox in that regard.
You have no real guarantee that the Xbox won't malfunction either... I understand peoples need $$$ to buy both consoles, but if you can afford it, you should do that. I also don't believe that LIVE is any more secure than PSN, so i wouldn't worry about that. Also, no region lock on PS3 is a plus, as is the whole Blu-Ray thing.
Yeah, a few times: about a month or two after I traded in Saints Row 2, I had an uncontrollable yearning for it, still do in many ways, but have never gotten around to picking it up again. Probably should, it's cheap as chips now.
Also, regretted trading in Ninja Gaiden Sigma... I rage quit a few times, went back to it, and eventually nearly broke my tv, so it was either the game or the tv. Also Far Cry 2, I loved that game, but the driving drove me crazy. Occasionally feel an urge to set dry grass on fire. Should never had done it...
I used to try to keep it at just one game at a time, and was actually pretty pedantic about it, but as the years have gone on I have thrown that ideology out the window; one thing I have found though, is that I tend not to finish certain games now though, so occasionally spend majority of time on one game until I finish it.
I think about it like if I was going to an arcade hangout: when I go to the arcades, I don't play just ONE game, instead I feed my dollars into any game I feel like playing. I like it better that way.
Currently interchanging between Nier, Borderlands, Ninja Gaiden 2, Mass Effect 2, and Dawn of War.
I have dabbled with my old copy of Evil Dead : Fistful of Boomstick, and I love it. It is an acquired taste, but by jolly I enjoy it!
Also have been occasionally feeling the need to play Sonic 1, 2, & 3 on the old Sega Classics Collection; the nostalgia and the great memories of it just still make it one of my favourite games ever.
We've only got Saints Row 3, Arkham City, Skyrim, Uncharted 3, AC Revelations, plus how many more I can't think of off the top of my head, to come for the remainder of the year. Very early to call GOTY, imo.
