@krullban: That's not UAC. That is based on permissions of your file system. It's because you aren't launching applications as an administrator.

Turning UAC off just allows apps to automatically get permission when they request elevated permissions. If the app didn't ask for any then it will work as a standard account unless you run it with elevated permissions (right-click and run as admin).

I would double check your folder permissions. Usually that only pops up when the folder has extra security flags. I'd try to help you out with now, however, my Windows 8 laptop is at work.

Sounds like you have other issues with your OS. UAC has never been a burden for me in Windows 8. It seems to work exactly the same as Windows 7 did.

@maginnovision: Thanks for the info. Perhaps I'll just stick with my current 30 gal until next winter. Currently it seems I only have enough hot water for maybe 15 minutes worth of showers. Seems like even less the colder it is.

@tycobb:

If you like hot water, don't go tankless.

I always thought it depended on where you lived and if you had the unit outside (not in the garage) or not. Figured anything with 180,000 BTUs could heat water pretty well in the winter time and if it was in the garage. The one closet it could have went in inside the house has a new furnace. My problem is that I only have a 30 gallon tank and either way I think I will be replacing it sooner than later with either a larger tank or tankless. What's your experience with the tankless?

I am looking at getting about $6,500 ($4,000 Fed, $2,500 California). One of these days I'll figure out the proper W4 numbers.

I keep thinking of ideas to do with it and to be honest, this time around there really isn't anything that excites me. I'll probably just end up keeping it in the bank since that's where it should have been the whole time. Perhaps I'll buy a tankless water-heater. What the hell has happened to me?

@tycobb: I've noticed this in some of the comments surrounding this article, I am about the most dense when it comes to the etiquette on these topics. Is it not offensive when so many people are saying "We always just assumed you were gay." somehow I don't think that is the desired reaction, but maybe it's operating a higher level of acceptance than I am familiar with... maybe I should just leave the thread.

I would say you are correct for those that assume. I wasn't assuming though; I really thought she was years ago because of what my wife said and thought she was already out. I guess I was wrong. Good thing I don't write stupid gossip articles. Would have gotten sued for slander xD

I already thought she was years ago. My wife said she was when we first watched Juno in 2008. She was completely serious too. I just assumed it was something already known.

Gmail. One for personal and another professional.

Been using Gmail since it was invite only many many years ago. I just don't see any reason to use something else. Spam filter works great and the service just works. No clue how the web version even really works though nowadays. Have been using Outlook with it for the past 5 years or so.
