What I'm looking forward to in 2009

2008 was another great year for games. Although the financial crisis didn't help with keeping several studios open it stll was a great year. Hopefully 2009 would be better. With games like FEAR 2, Killzone 2, Skate 2, Guitar Hero Metallica, LoTR: Conquest, Halo Wars, Splinter Cell Conviction (hopefully), Street Fighter 4, Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams, Tekken 6, Diablo 3....ARG! So many games. I honestly think 2009 will be the best year yet.

My love for Anime and Manga has returned!

I was introduced to anime at a very young age. When I was 5, Pokemon was all the rage. About 10, Yu-Gi-Oh. But at 12 I started to get into some real good anime. Fullmetal Alchemist, Spiral, and a bunch that I can't think of right now. But also around that time Manga was introduced to me. Death Note, Planetes, Rurouni Kenshin, among many others.

So pretty much for the first 2 years of being a teenager was spent with me watching anime and reading manga. After a while I just started to drift away from the whole Otaku scene and became more game and music oriented. But now about a year after I drifted away, it's coming back.

I got all my anime DVD's out of my garage and have just been binging on anime. Same with manga. It's really weird to me beacus as quickly as it went away, it came back harder.

Games I could care less about.

With the game industry in full swing there is bound to be many games to be released. Most of these game will most likely appeal to me in some way or another, but a small percentage of these games are the ones I don't really care about. These games that I don't like are usually PC releases. I guess that's because I don't care for PC gaming. Like Diablo 3 for example.

When Diablo 3 was announced at the Blizzard Invitational almost every fan seriously had a hard-on for the next several days, but a lot of them despised the game for the new art direction Blizzard decided to take the game. Many people thought that Blizzard wanted to make it look more like WoW instead of the dark, gothic style that the previous games were in. But with 2 sides to pick there must be a 3rd side, the side where nobody gives a crap about it. That is where I would stand. So Blizzard can try toinpress who they want, but I ain't buyin it.

Next is Starcraft 2. I just have 1 thing to say... RTS+Me=Bad.

Then the next World of Warcraft expansion Wrath of the Lich King. If the expansion were to come out about 3 months ago I might have cared becaus I played WoW 3 months ago. All WoW is anymore is grind, level, grind, level, raid, grind, level. That's the problem with most MMORPGs, they are boring has hell.

Have you noticed all those games were Blizzard games? i'm not a big fan of them. They need to put out more console games in my opinion.

The next coming months

Within the next coming month many games are scheduled to be released. Gears 2, Fallout 3, Fable 2, Rock Band 2, probably another card battle game or something but none the less, a lot of great games happen to come out in the next coming months. Even though Gears will be a big release it's not the game I'm looking most forward to, actually I am looking forward at 2 games. Fallout 3 and Fable 2.

Fallout 3 is of course being developed by Bethesda Games. The studio that made games such as The Elder Scrolls series and the previous Fallout games. The first 2 Fallout games didn't really catch my attention, so that's why I didn't play them. But this is game looks kinda like a rebirth of the series because of the first and third person camera view, I guess that's why I'm really looking forward to it. The reason I didn't play the other ones was because of the camera view. I know that is kind of a critical statement, but who cares. The blood, the gore, the action, and the adventure are really what is gonna sell the game, and that's another reason I'm gonna buy it. It is supposed to be released October 7.

Fable 2 is the sequel to the original Fable from the original Xbox developed my Lionhead Studios and the great Peter Molyneux. He is the only person I have heard exaggerate as much as a 6 year old child, but that's beside the point. This game is going to be amazing. You can pretty much do everything in this game, and I mean everything. You can get married, get and STD, kill you spouse. get remarried, have a family, buy a house, buy a house, the list goes on and on until you get right down to the getting crapped on by birds. This game will pretty much the greater, better, console version of Blizzard's World of Warcraft except it's not a MMO, which is a good thing. (Good thing it didn't meet the same fate as KOTOR did.) This epic title will hit store shelves October 21.

These game really show how far games have come. From the simple days of the Atari 2600 and Pong, to the Wii, 360, and the PS3. I hope the whole industry will continue to advance and keep on rising to the top. This will only happen if we keep it going for many years to come.
