I Have a Pathological Inability to Advertise Myself

For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a writer. For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a writer. I was born with ADHD and generalized anxiety, and being a writer seemed like the best, coolest, most fun way to communicate my ideas the way I wanted, while avoiding the pitfalls of the kind of fame I wasn't really looking for. I found with my sardonic, deeply American-born-Jew-style humor, I was frequently misunderstood and my tone could be hard to read, so when written words became the way to communicate with others, I was actually a little bit glad. I could write and rewrite my thoughts to friends and family without stumbling over myself or becoming terrified of "saying the wrong thing."

Obviously...social media made sure that anyone anywhere anytime could take anyone's perfectly fine, written words and twist them into something else. As I got older, I stopped wanting to become a writer, because the idea of becoming famous became utterly anathema to everything I wanted out of life.

This is an elongated way of saying: I love writing and hate advertising myself. If you've enjoyed my output in any way, be it as the Second Intern On-Camera (after the legendary Kessler, of course), if you enjoyed my writing or voice on ComicVine, if you even followed me to projects like "On This Very Screen" or GOD FORBID, my frequently disused social media (or occasional forays into mild dipshittery on these very forums, I was drinking too much and had too much anger in my life, in a much better place nowadays), this is a big deal for me. This is a longform essay about something I'm DEEPLY passionate about that some mad bastards decided to not just publish, but give me MONEY FOR. ACTUAL AMERICAN DOLLARS.

Anyway, here're my thoughts on Kraven's Last Hunt, The Dark Knight Returns, and the state of superhero media in-general. Genuinely, please share it around if you enjoyed it, we LIVE on clicks and advertising.
