I regret dropping Ben. He was annoying me and he wanted me to leave him, so I did, but then when I saw the Who Came With You at the end and I realized I could have saved him, then I felt bad.

I just finished on Normal today. I'd never played an XCOM game before and so there was a bit of a learning curb to figure out how to balance everything and how to play, but once I got into the rhythm I found I never lost anyone.

I think the reputation it gets for being hard is really because it's unforgiving, which is quite different. You can quite quickly get wiped out if you don't play cautiously.

Wow, you weren't kidding that it was a giant form--took me about half an hour, although I did kind of enjoy it. Nice to know my metrics are ending up somewhere where it actually matters and is being looked at.

Best question-combo-setup in there: "Do you watch live streams?" "Do you like watching gaming live streams?" "Do you know what eSports is?" "Are you interested in eSports?" "Why or why not?"

It had the 'leading questions' feel of the captain from Airplane:

Captain: You ever been in a cockpit before?

Joey: No sir, I've never been up in a plane before.

Captain: You ever seen a grown man naked?

Patterns looks pretty cool--and that's a classy move reaching out to Notch ahead of it. I think we actually need more variation in the "Minecraft clone" space, and it's cool to hear innovation being done correctly.

I think that on the whole the QLs that are run by the person reviewing the game tend to be more this way. They have a lot to say that they have been thinking about for the review, and so it comes out in this very demo-y sort of way with lots of talk and an attempt to explain everyything. The QLs that tend to be more focused on play and general nonsense seem to be the ones where either it's a completely new game to the player, or else it's just a one-off random game. I think those can often be the more entertaining watching experience, but they also are sometimes a poor representation of the game overall (and those are the ones where the comments usually blow up saying 'you're playing it wrong').

I don't think it's endemic to just Patrick, it's part of the nature of a QL.

I'm actually pretty pumped for this. Despite it's many flaws, DA2 charmed me enough to go back and replay DA:O and I think they have incredibly strong fiction and a good world. I'm hoping DA3:I has a larger more diverse world than DA2, but keeps the art style.

Those are perfect! I love how Hot Dog Klepeck is setup to be the Teddy character.

I was buying FTL on steam--thankfully I switched back to the feed in time to see him run down the last hall!
