@neurogia: Why? It’s just another genre. I don’t play battle royal games, but don’t mind that they’re the hot new thing. Hell, I don’t even play visual novels, and find it incredibly easy to ignore them. Is this a “I don’t think they’re games, so a games services shouldn’t sell them” situation? Are we reliving the “Myst isn’t a game” dispute from my childhood?
I’m more bothered by Steam ignoring actual problems with their service, then I am them making it harder for people to play porno. Plus the no graphic sexual content rule is stupid, when there is so much graphic violent content that’s ok.
Let people have their porn. I haven’t seen much, but some of the stuff I have seen is tamer than all three Witcher games. Hell, some of the cards you get in the first Witcher are racier than HoneiPop. Are they going to ban all of CD Projects games? What’s the real point of this?
Porn games exist in their own little niche world, where the people that covet them tend to dwell without affecting anyone. For the most part, people don’t even know they exist. Just make it harder for people to accidentally stumble on the shit, and let people wank in peace.
There is a whole lot of presumption going on here.
Radical Heights seems like it was a hail marry play to keep the company alive. So I don’t fault them for trying, plus if it would have been a little more polished it might have worked.
Lawbreakers wasn’t really a bad idea either, but the market wasn’t interested. Also I think there is a place for a new Unreal/Quake areana shooter, but no one figured out the right formula.
Video games aren’t a sure thing, and I don’t think Boss Key made obvious mistakes. They just couldn’t find a place in the genres. If anything this is just a reminder that there are no sure things, and just because a guy has a good pedigree, it doesn’t automatically equal success.
@ll_exile_ll: the Wizard of Oz does not have the resonance of Shakespeare. One movie doesn’t have the staying power of an entire body of work. Either way the discussion is about personal pet peeves, and no matter the argument, I will never not cringe at that scene in Avatar.
I can't think of a game, but I hate when a piece of fiction set far in the future uses our modern day terminology. Like the bad guy in Avatar saying, "We're not in Kansas anymore".
I didn’t enjoy a lot of this game, and dropped out after the second brother. I have only played four, but liked it enough to try this one. So I’m not over saturated with FarCry, just disliked almost all of it. Didn’t care for the weapons, and was very confused by having to unlock more guns, when they don’t have a lot of variety. Hated the characters on both sides, and would shoot quest givers after they tell me what to do to get them to shut up.
It’s been a while since a game turned me off more than this one did. I deleted it when I figured out where the story was going, then watched it on YouTube to see how close I was. For me it’s just lame.
Also I really didn’t care for the game continually trying to direct where I was going. I’m trying to fish, and I was constantly harassed by people trying to tell me where the quests are, and they would always bring enemies with them. I just wanted to chill damnit it. Very frustrating.
If we don’t hear about a remastering of one and two at E3, then I will be surprised. Although there does seem to be a slight distancing between the old games and the new one, so maybe not.
