Jonathan Blow tweets about this game all the time and I have no idea what it is. When's the QL.

@a_turtle: @tobbrobb: Beat that mofo on Saturday and was shaking for like 5 minutes afterwards. Such a good boss, definitely on that "beating S&O for the first time" level of rewarding.

Ever since Dark Souls 2 I just two-hand every weapon and dodge, so I haven't really tried to parry in DS3. I have noticed that the "big damage" stuns seem a bit more common in this one, which is nice.

@hark: I'm pretty sure he never would have come up with a plan actually. Talking to him afterwards gives you a reward and new emotes, which usually means you progressed in an NPC's story line. I can't imagine there's another way to do it, but who knows, these games are surprising like that sometimes.

If I've beat Dark Souls 3 by this weekend I'll definitely dive in and marathon through this. I played a bit of the PS3 games on my friend's console in college, but haven't really had a chance to play through one on my own time since the PS2 games, which I adored. Definitely my favorite PS2 franchise, I put so many hours into all of them back in the day. Insomniac is a studio that just really makes a game shine, I'm really glad they've gone away from making dull shooters and back to making colorful action games. Sunset Overdrive was a blast (and the reason I got an XBone), and it sounds like R&C will be too. Looking forward to the nostalgic bits of this being re-make too, I'm sure all the maps from the first game are burned into my brain somewhere.

Put in 7 straight hours last night, loving it so far. One of my favorite changes coming out of playing through SotFS lately is that armor doesn't seem upgradeable. Someone let me know if I'm wrong, but not having to worry about comparing a new +0 armor piece to a +10 one I'm currently wearing is a welcome relief. Makes selecting armor more like Bloodborne, but with more variety. I've fought four bosses and they've all been great and very different. The Firelink Shrine is a cool hub and there seem to be a lot of mysterious NPCs visiting it, and there's some fun exploring to do once you buy the tower key from the shopkeeper lady. Really looking forward to playing more after work today, think I'm getting close to fighting the Abyss Watchers.

This game is trying way too hard to be a difficult game, and it just ends up being frustrating and unfun. The very tight instant death sliding block areas are fucking awful frustrating messes, and I just ran into one that is basically completely dark. The combat is okay, but straight out of the gate it throws very difficult encounters out, and the solution to most of the fights is to dash constantly. The first boss was fun, but again, incredibly frustrating the first few times. The chain-dash challenge in the shop is fucking idiotic; chaining 800 dashes together in a circle to get a new sword isn't fun and at least for me, impossible to pull off. Maybe this game could find a happy place in my head if I continue playing and get some more upgrades to vary up the combat a bit, but right now it just inspires pure anger.

I just shot a guy in the back when he was down to 1/3 after he helped my group out a bit, mostly because, as Jeff has put it, "the world got too peaceful". That's all the PvP I've done in the beta so far, I'm level 15. I did a hell of a lot more fighting real people in the beta, but I've yet to even run into many people.

I really do hope they add some more incentive for players to go rogue. One idea I think I read, or put together after reading a couple ideas, would be for the capsule to have some indicator telling others what the highest rating of item you have. For example, if you have at least one purple item, there'd be a purple light on the capsule.

Hahaha this is a fun listen. I like that you actually put in the little bit from the podcast. You should tweet the link to Alex and Austin.

On UPF Brad alluded to some devs coming over, but it sounded like that might just be for some QL and Unfinished videos of games being shown there. That 2014 GDC live stream was a whole lot of fun though, I'd love another one.
