Vigorousjammer: Best of 2009

List items

  • Amazing character interaction and a massive storyline that can take multiple paths puts this game at the top of my list.

  • The Sims has always been a fairly interesting game, but the Sims 3 brings this to a whole new level with the personality traits, and now being able to explore the world around you. Definitely one of the top games of 2009, it gets put at number 2 in my list.

  • the single player is an intense romp through modern day military craziness, with nukes everywhere and things blowing up here and there, it's a crazy ride, and the intensity is prevalent throughout. Then the multiplayer is an amazing experience, and Spec-ops just adds even more fun to an already amazing game. Quality and Quantity are both contributing factors in this game, putting it at number 3.

  • Thousands of guns... humorous storyline and missions... great art-style, great characters, and diablo-style stat boosting puts this game at number 4 on my list.

  • While the multiplayer isn't anything special, the single-player is the Indiana Jones of video games. I'm always a sucker for a good story, and the game is incredibly fun to play as well... putting Uncharted 2 at number 5 on my list.

  • An early contender for game of the year, this game has a very solid feel to it. It doesn't do anything too innovative or remarkable, but it has amazing graphics, and the gameplay is super, especially the multiplayer, putting it at number 6 on my list.

  • Not many games have been made in the style of the side-scrolling masterpiece Metroid. Shadow Complex was made in this way, and has a captivating story throughout... The lack of multiplayer is sad, but it's not nessicarry for this game to get number 7 on my list.

  • Very much improved from the first game, this title brings a lot of increased fidelity to the wall-climbing, building jumping gameplay from the first game. Not to mention the sheer amount of variety they have put into the world. The storyline alone would make a great movie, but we also have a great game to go along with it. Definitely deserving of the number 8 spot on my list.

  • While the gameplay might be somewhat generic, it does do some original things. I quite enjoy the combat, and the entire feel of the game, which harkens back to the Animated Series. Plus, as the innovator of the PhysX graphics system, I can't help but be amazed with the graphics in the PC version. That alone makes the game worthy of number 9 in my list.

  • Nothing too new or innovative here, it's the same old great mario gameplay we've all come to know and love, except now with four players, it gets pretty insane! Overall, the game is fun in it's purest form, putting it at number 10 on my list.
