As an ignorant 25 year old american citizen:

I do not know enough about this issue to say anything of substance.

I enjoyed the combat quite a lot. It was INCREDIBLY improved from the first Nier's combat, so I saw it wholly as an improvement in every way, instead of "Platinum's next action game" like I think a lot of people looked at it as.

Compared to Bayonetta the combat ain't all that, but compared to original Nier? It might as well be the greatest combat system in the world.

Plus that soundtrack is so good! Even after finishing it I sometimes hover over the Automata icon in my PS4 tray just to hear a bit of that beautiful score again.

Route B can be a bit of a slog, especially if you don't like/ aren't good at (ME) the hacking minigame. That's probably my most substantial complaint.

Here's something different:

Thunderbolt Fantasy

It uses Puppetry! and it's FUCKING BADASS!

Coolest puppet-based fight scenes you'll ever see. You'll be hooked after the first scene of episode 1. At least I was!

That spoiler makes me Waaaaaaaaay more interested in this game. I've always liked the future stuff a lot, even if they fail and flop about with it sometimes.

I was ready to just be happy with Mario & Wolfenstein on Friday, but this makes me consider getting Origins when before I was pretty lukewarm on playing another AC. It was going to be the first AC game I didn't buy at launch just because it was getting kinda stale, but now.... well, I got some money decisions to make now.

also.... I've barely watched any footage of this game, but was that stuff not talked about in the pre-release marketing? Why are we spoiler tagging something that's been in every previous game? That's like half the reason I ever played these games (Even if in reality it only takes up maybe 1~5% of the experience)

Hell, I think AC4's real-world stuff was some of my favorite! I loved wandering around that fake Ubisoft game dev studio reading lore and finding audio logs. I was bummed it was less significant than previous games, but it was so interesting and different. I hope this new game's version isn't as bad as the stuff from AC3 was at least.

I've been trying to play as much of "A Hat in Time" as possible before Mario comes out on Friday, and boy howdy what a joyful and pleasant little platformer!
Very fun controls and good-feeling platforming, I rarely felt like the game screwed me over after I missed a jump or died. And they give you so many options for movement! Double jump! air dive! Jump-dive cancels! wall running & jumping! grappling hook! And that's not even mentioning the light but still entertaining story & all the fun characters you meet.

ADORABLE HATS!

oh, and the whole thing is adorable. Hat girl is very cute, and so are her many hats.

(I thought Dan said they were gonna quicklook this game, no sign of it yet... But once Mario comes out its all over! Their attention will be drawn away from the cute little kickstarter platformer and towards the horizon of too many games!!!)

I only wish there were more of it. Definitely worth the price though! lots of content in a small package.

I Was going to try and rep Final Fantasy 8 since I didn't see it on your revised list, but since then others have preached the greatness of FFVIII (or, at least recommended it despite its flaws) Which I also throw my 2 cents in for!

If you're in the mood for something a bit newer, I would recommend "Tales of Berseria" which came out earlier this year, and I had an absolute blast with. There's a few "Tales of" games available on PC, and most of them are pretty good.

...... Emulate Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, or buy a Gamecube. That's my REAL recommendation.

I defended PewDiePie when the WSJ business happened, Context mattered there.
But hoooo boy Context doesn't really matter this time around!

I'm a 25 year old white guy, and I've never accidentally said the n-word in a heated moment. I spurt out TONS of other obscenities, for Sure! But that one has never even gotten close to slipping out. Shitlord? Asshole? Punk-Bitch? Anything else! Everything else!....

Dang, I still find some of his newer YT videos funny :/ But this moment was uncool

Not sure how I feel about the Campo Santo bit. I get where they're coming from, but... hmm, I dunno.

I had a lot of fun with Persona Q, sure it was... Off, in some (Maybe alot of) ways, but I enjoyed the turn-based gameplay and the persona-y music.

I'll play a sequel, sure! I wonder if this 2nd game will have as many playable party members as Persona Q1 had... Took me a while to realize I should pick 5 characters and just level them up, as opposed to leveling up Every party member evenly like I started out doing.

And this reminds me that I never finished Dancing All Night. I should go do that! That thing seemed fine.

The first upgrades i got in Horizon were the "Get more loot from bodies/boxes" perk, for sure.

and anything that gives "Gain more XP/Money" I'd always go for those first in games.
