I don't think it being free was a deciding factor in people playing there, I'm certain Nostalrius would have been a lot less popular if it was a Cataclysm server!
That's one of the crazier things I've read in quite some time. Free vs. paid will always be a deciding factor for a significant number of people, that just seems like common sense.
I also agree with @mindbullet that you pretty clearly wanted to drive discussion about this specific situation. I don't think there's anything wrong with having the discussion but considering your OP it was never going to be about the petition itself or gaming petitions in general.
I'm still running a Nehalem i7 from 2009 when I built this thing. It's been through two GPU upgrades (2011, 2014), a RAM replacement (2011), and an SSD/HDD/cooler upgrade (2014). This is definitely the year I build a new PC from scratch though, I've pushed this poor old motherboard as far as it'll go.
I keep wondering why no one seems to be a logitech fan. They seem to be the only ones making a dedicated PC controller.
I use a Logitech controller and have no issues with it at all. I prefer the DualShock style stick layout so the Logitech controllers are more comfortable for me. Switchable XInput/DirectInput modes comes in handy for older stuff too, I believe Microsoft's DirectInput support on the 360 and One controllers is kind of half assed.
Anyone else depressed VR hasn't changed the world yet? It's nearly 6pm the day after VR and still doesn't feel like much has changed. Hope it's not much longer.
But VR has changed the world. Just take off your headset and look around...
I remain on my plan to weigh options 1 year in and make a go/nogo call. For now I definitely think Oculus bet wrong releasing without the Touch controllers, Vive's release with controllers and room scale is much more compelling. I'm currently in the process of buying a house and I'd be lying if I said room scale VR wasn't at least a small factor in my decision.
Edit: Also, PSVR is a non-starter for me. Not owning any consoles this generation I'm not about to drop ~$850 for a console and VR bundle just to be tied to a game console.
