A pioneering genre defining classic, full axis movement on all planes in a zero gravity environment. Unfortunately it's spin on the FPS genre is unique to it's own franchise and has never been replicated. Hopefully that will change someday.
This game was the pinnacle of Bethesda's claim to fame. Imo the best open world RPG you will ever play.
The only fast paced reflex shooter that actually pulled off 3rd person successfully imo. One of my all time favs for lots of variety and fast paced action. It is also one of the few games in the unreal series where the Biorifle doesn't suck.
Still the best Multiplayer FPS experience on the 360 imo. Why you ask? It takes the best elements of COD: Intuitive responsive controls, ADS, Sprint, grenade throwback, good netcode, and blends them beautifully with elements of Battle Field: Big maps, vehicles but not overpowered, meaningful kits, and requiring you to play as part of a team and not just for yourself. All of the weapons are powerful and have purpose, and best of all it had client side hit detection so there is no host advantage. Even when you aren't the host you can shoot a person and be confident in knowing they really are dead.
It pairs a lot of things I love: Diablo-like mass killing and loot fests, good humor, and building up a character as a part of a squad for Co-op... and it is all done with fun meaningful combat that isn't just a click fest.
Easy Access MTG will a wealth of strategy and re-playabiliy on and off online, and continued support well into next year.
If you like Dice games at all, and enjoy multiplayer shooters, then this is the best bang for you buck. And since it is an arcade title its life cycle for an "active mutliplayer community" will last for a very long time.
Take a somewhat generic Grid Tac-RPG, add in excellent humor, good difficulty, random skampyness, mutliplayer, and a level editor... and you have one of my favorites for Live Arcade.
Yes technically it is CoD4.5 in WW2 theme. But guess what? I perfer WW2 weapons to the attachment lust plaguing most modern shooters. Also when people take off their Treyarch hate blinders and look at the game they'll find a polished well supported product with a lot of cool features, and bells and whistles (that you won't find in an infinity ward game) that add a lot to the overall quality of the package.
The genius behind the control scheme alone deserves praise. The devs took the myth that RTS is best on a mouse and keyboard and buried it. Oh and the game itself ain't bad either.
Technically this is the same music crap, but the user music editor and library of content helped to push this ahead with more staying power, and the song list (imo) is miles ahead of most of the other music games on shelves today.
If you don't have a good PC to play Stalker or Crisis then this is the game to satisfy your open world FPS, merc for hire killing fest (with cod like controls), itch.
Another great Calibur game, relatively free of bugs and exploits, with a robust roster, create-a-character, and online multiplayer.
The only thing I can fault this game for is breaking my controller from having to hold the stick in to run. If you like FPS and you like dice games at all, then get this.
This game got a bad rep because of the PC community wishing it was more like 2004. The game itself is of good quality with a nod back to the old school days of 99. Oh and a Biorifle that doesn't suck.
For the overwhelming amount of content you get with this title it's a must by, unless you absolutely loath all things Valve.
The game that dethroned Halo. That alone makes this game timeless. It is by no means a perfect game, (I personally can't stand all of the RDS and x3 frag nonsense) but it is a very polished high quality FPS with a decent single player and robust multiplayer component.
