Owned Consoles

These days I do most of my classic gaming on emulators, but I still keep collecting old consoles as a way to increase whatever sense of self-worth I get from collecting them.

I guess the equation would be More Consoles = More Awesome of a Person.

List items

  • Two of these (three if you count the knockoff NES I got from Hastings for $10)

  • Own three of these, most recent one was from a yard sale a week ago for $15 with ten games.

  • Got it at launch, had it for a few months before the cost of the new games became too much ($80 for Killer Instinct Gold), then traded it in towards a Saturn with its cheaper games. Bought another one for $30 about five years ago.

  • Got one near launch, sold it shortly afterwords when no good games came out for a long time. Bought another one from a pawn shop two or three years later when a number of good games had come out.

  • Had it in my room for awhile before I realized I never actually play it. Put it in the living room where I have more space to waggle the wiimote around.

  • My current Gameboy isn't even at my house, but my mothers house. Also, it doesn't have the battery cover (and hasn't had it for almost two decades). Used packing tape to cover the back when batteries were being used.

  • Never had it as a kid, but recently got one from a yard sale for $10 with Super Mario Bros DX.

  • Own a DS Lite which I love and a DSi that I never really use and actually regret buying (thanks to both the DSi XL and the 3DS)

  • Japanese system, got it off of ebay for moderately cheap ($200). Could have gotten the USA one for a little bit cheaper, but the Japanese version removes censoring from games.

  • Actually, the TurboDUO, but there was no item for that. Also, I'm missing the power adapter and I have no controllers for it.

  • My first ever CD-Rom system. Enjoyed it quite a bit actually, especially Psychic Detective and Wing Commander III

  • Both controllers I got with it don't work properly, but a six button Sega Genesis arcade stick works flawlessly with it.

  • I've owned this system three times, and each time I got it for less than $20.

  • Both the model 2 system and the Nomad, which served me well on trips to my Grandparents house (had the power adapter).

  • I had games for this system seven years before I actually had the system. Local rental store was getting rid of their Sega CD game stock cheap, so I picked up Lunar 1, Sewer Shark, Fatal Fury Special, Night Trap, and Keio's Flying Squadron for $3 each. Spent the next seven years trying to get a system to play them on.

  • The first console I ever modded. I had no soldering knowledge, so I just used electrical tape to hold the wires in place. Also the first console I ever did any maintenance on. After the CD-unit died, I bought a second (but couldn't be modded) Saturn and swapped out the CD-units. Worked great afterward.

  • I had just gotten some X-mas money and was going to the local game store to see what was available, when I saw the Dreamcast for $100. It was all the money I had, but I didn't care. Picked it up, got Sonic Adventure and Omikron a couple of days later with some more x-mas money and had a great time. A few days later, the DC went to $100 new.

  • I kind of have this system. I have the mushroom head part, but none of the two other cables needed. No big deal as I never really wanted to play it...I just wanted to be able to say that I have a 32x. Only paid $5 for it.

  • Impulse buy from a used game store. It's the massive bulky one as seen on AVGN. The controller barely works and all three games I own for it suck.

  • PSP-2000. Pretty fun system, though my DS lite gets more use. Softmodded of course (no real reason not to unless you can't)

  • Haven't actually used this in ages since my PS3 is software backwards compatible and PS2 emulation is getting to a point now where it is feasible to play through entire games on the computer. Still, it's the only way I can play Steambot Chronicles (freezes on PS3, unplayable through PCSX2) and that's really the only reason it's still hooked up

  • Software BC, 80gb model.

  • This was an impulse buy on Ebay, but it was only $30 and it gives me the right to add it to my list. I also own the Battle Ogre game for it, which means I own every Battle Ogre game ever made (SNES, PSX, WonderSwan, N64)

  • For what it was worth, I did enjoy the two games I had for it (Mario Tennis and WarioLand) and I would love to see a re-release of some or all of the games on it for the 3DS.

  • Iphone 3gs - Awesome phone with awesome games

  • Two of these. One that is still plugged into the TV since I softmodded it and use it as a small media center/emulation center, and a second Halo 2 edition one that I picked up on impulse for $40 about six months ago.

  • My currently most played console, though I haven't played it much due to the recent summer Steam sale.

  • The second model. Impulse purchase, but worked well enough as a phone for awhile. I did enjoy the downloaded cell phone games more than I enjoyed the actual Nokia N-Gage games though.

  • Just the Famicom Micro version, though I have owned the GBA and GBA SP before. In fact, the only way I could see the screen of the GBA was to play it in the bathroom, so I got into the habit of playing portable games on the can.

  • Doesn't really work, but got it for $10 at a flea market, so I'm not too bummed.
