Maaan, and here I just learned about diegetic sound yesterday in my Japanese Cinema class! College really does apply to the real world.
But in all seriousness, that was a really good comparison! I totally get how you're saying these types of sound/touch relate to each other, and it makes the whole topic a little more thought-provoking than "touchin' on anime studs/babes" which I was already into anyway. (´ ▽`)♡
Oh my god, I totally didn't connect this game (the title or visually) with the first person puzzle gate game I heard about on the Bombcast so long ago. I saw all the buzz on the forums and Brad's review so I figured the quick look would be worth checking out, and now my mind is all kinds of blown.
This looks totally up my alley, I'll see what my $$ is looking like in the next month or so and hopefully play it for myself before getting too impatient and looking up videos on youtube.
I'm glad this doesn't seem awful, which is the main thing I was worried about. TTYD is my favorite game of all time, and poor Paper Mario just hasn't been the same since SPM. If the review is 4-stars, I think I'll pick this up when the price drops a bit. I don't think I'd mind the Paper Toad meandering too much, so it's not a deal breaker for me.
@rusalkagirl: For real! As someone who realized she was a bi girl early in high school, Max and Chloe totally push all my mushy teen romance buttons. It's not a perfect relationship (you know, even besides the Sacrifice Chloe/Arcadia Bay thing), but none of the het romances I liked at that age were flawless either!
I agree, I think their romantic relationship was fleshed out wonderfully. 8)
The romance discourse might be the worst part of the fan discussion of the game, though. People are so groomed to see closeness between two girls as just how all girls act with each other, to the point where real life celebrities like Kristen Stewart can go on vacation with her girlfriend and have all the magazines report on it by saying 'wow gal pals! it's so nice that they cuddle tenderly on the beach like friends that are female often do!' instead of even considering that they might not be straight. It's Korra and Asami all over again, but with 200% more canon smooches and declarations of love.
I love Chloe and Max's relationship being optionally romantic, even if 'tragic lesbians' isn't really as nice as 'two girls kiss and live happily ever after and no one else dies either', but media is still catching up on how to tell non-heteronormative stories so I'll take what I can get.
ANYWAY I loved this video series, thanks for sticking with it!
