Weird, this is something I was just thinking about a day ago. It was one of those thoughts that hit you out of nowhere for no reason, but I was like "damn I think enchiladas are one of my favorite foods ever" and I like every type of Mexican food I've tried.
I just. Really like things smothered in tasty sauces and covered in cheese, I think. And now I wish I hadn't seen this thread because I'm VERY hungry now. :(
Finally, did anyone else catch the callback to the first season? Jon's eyes open in the last shot of episode two, exactly the same as Bran's eyes in the second episode of the first season. Cool stuff, director. You get a gold star.
There have been a bunch of callbacks in the past two episodes and, honestly, I'm a huge sucker for it. Young Ned says the "Keep your shield up or I'll ring your head like a bell" line that Jon said to Olly last season, which implies that one of the Starks probably said it to Jon back in Winterfell. Ghost also tore at the door he was locked behind in the first episode exactly like Greywind did when Robb was murdered at the Red Wedding. There have been some articles going around about more of the callbacks. Some of them are a little reaching/weak, but others are super cool. Thanks for pointing out the Jon/Bran wakeup, I didn't actually see that one going around!
I don't believe for a SECOND that show-Roose didn't see that coming, but oh well. I was sort of hoping he'd be the one to get Ramsey in the end. Oh, but Tyrion needs to stop making dick jokes.
That aside, I basically didn't have any huge issues with this episode. Great turn around from last week, imo! I was super tickled by Bran's flashbacking and I'm excited to see more next week. I'm glad Jon is alive and I feel like his hair getting cut was a deliberate jab at people like me who were paying attention to Kit's hair length during the season break. Every time Sansa hugs Theon I wonder how bad he smells. I hope Yara does something cool, I like her actress and she's the only Iron Islander who isn't a legitimately bad person.
Can we just never go back to the Sand Snakes? Please.
It used to be both but now I listen to about 5 McElroy podcasts AND my Game of Thrones weekly podcasts are waking up again so the Bombcast has to go on the back burner until things slow down.
(Also having my own podcast has cut down on listening time slightly.)
Davos is my beautiful onion dad. A lot of the comedy bits fell totally flat for me (the Dothraki, the Sand Snakes) but Davos can still do no wrong. He's hilarious and one of the only reliably smart people left in the main cast.
Also I loved the Sansa/Catelyn parallels. It was really cool to see Theon pick up a sword for the first time in about 3.5 seasons too, knowing that he used to be just as talented as Robb and Jon at fighting. Besides that, I wasn't totally charmed by this episode. I was really banking on Ellaria's bad choices catching up to her.
I had to go digging in my photobucket account of all things for this and damn, it explains a lot about middle school me. I assume this was around 2008, and the McAfee and AOL icons were my mom's doing. As you can clearly see, I had better taste and used Internet Explorer to browse deviantart. I was a very classy anime-loving teenage girl.
Edit: my current desktop is the k-pop group Rainbow so I haven't changed THAT much, aesthetic-wise.
I'm a senior at an art and design school (getting my BFA in fashion design), and my mac has been great for running adobe programs like photoshop, indesign, and illustrator. Once I graduate and it eventually expires I might get something different for my new laptop, but I also have a desktop PC for things like video games so that's not a big factor for me. A bunch of less graphically demanding, short-time-y games are available for mac anyway and run just fine for me!
