The spectating feature was absolutely my favourite part of Onlive. To have that native in a proper console, sounds great.

Agreed.^ :D

It all sounds like it'll make an interesting whole. :)

Definitely the most disappointing news I've heard so far. :( (I've got quite a few PSN purchases :( )

However- keep in mind this is ultimately for the same reason the PS4 won't have backwards compatibility at all either (Outside of streaming). The PS4 can't directly play any of the PS3 PSN titles anyway, so... :|

One thing I've heard is that this is specifically being made for streaming PS3 games- not necessarily PS4 games. (Though it may end up being an option- certainly not mandatory, unless Sony's suicidal. :P )

So specifically- this is Sony's only option for providing the PS4 backwards compatibility for PS3 games.

This is because the PS4 won't have a cell processor- and thus won't be able to run PS3 games directly at all apparently, regardless of whether its disc-based or downloadable. (Unless Sony makes an emulator of some sort- which I kind of doubt given how PS2 emulation was eventually handled with the PS3 to lower costs)

I can see it being an option, but they would be fucking insane to make it a requirement like Onlive did.

So yeah, for PS4 games, it'll be nothing more than an option (If its used for PS4 games at all). For PS3 games/backwards compatibility though- its most likely going to be mandatory.

@coakroach: Yes! This calls for a full shift of the current consumers' behavior around video game pre-purchasing. When apparently PR representatives can say what they want in front of a camera, and even do staged demos of versions that aren't the real thing then it is probably best that we as a response stop pre-ordering games. Disregard pre-release PR campaigns with interviews, trailers and whatnot else, because if there are no laws preventing lies then we are basing our purchase on equivalents of quicksand; especially on Steam as they usually don't give refunds on pre-orders, once you make that step, your money is gone.

I would like to hear him about Kickstarter -> Putting $60+ down for a game which might never be released at all.

As for this whole demo not being anything like the game, that sounds like they really made a demo specifically to cheat the public.

Well... >_>

Basically, yes, the end result of putting down $60 on a pre-order or a kickstarter CAN be the same.

However, unlike pre-orders, there is an actual potential benefit from putting money into a Kickstarter. Cause that money will actually help the game reach the finish line (At least, in theory of course. :P ).

Pre-orders... Have little to no benefit, aside from paltry pre-order bonuses. :P

That would be the primary difference between the two. I can definitely see why many consider Kickstarter as the riskier option though.

@believer258: But more often than not, I would assume people are coming from an interested perspective.

This is a relatively dangerous assumption to make good sir. :P

Regardless of a person's knowledge or interest on a subject- do you have any idea how hard it is to resist the urge to randomly vote on every poll we have limited knowledge of and no informed or fully formed opinion on, just to see the numbers? D:

I know it is for me... >_>

Now, if the constant urge to see numbers wasn't a thing, then I would probably end up agreeing with you and say there is no need for a 'see the results' button.

But... As it is, I have to agree with Snail and Believer here. We don't know exactly how many people on this site vote on polls just for the sake of seeing numbers- but its probably a high enough number that we'll want to compensate. :P

Originally, it was going to be a squad-based FPS.

It's now looking more like a standard FPS from what IGN's stream indicated- at least for the single player.

Keep in mind, there still is drop-in/drop-out co-op for up to 4 players (And 2 player split screen). But from what I've heard- AI squadmates were ditched a while back in development. (May very well be for the best- if the NPC's skating movement shown off in the IGN stream was any sign)

Who knows- it may surprise us with above-average enemy AI and/or better gameplay than what we've seen so far (ESPECIALLY from the IGN stream). But what we DO know is that at the very least, the graphics of this game really showcase how rough and lengthy this game's development was. (It graphically looks noticeably worse than AvP 2010- unfortunately)

@Sticky_Pennies: So it is as I feared :( somehow I tought it would go the route of say Stalker or Farcy 2/3 ... a shame

Yeah... Not sure where you got that impression. :(

To my knowledge, unless I've missed something, even in its early stages Colonial Marines never went in that direction- it was going to be linear with an emphasis on squad-based tactics (Until again, AI squadmates were supposedly ditched).

Sadly, suffice to say- I will not be terribly surprised if the campaign is not balanced for single player and is only really playable in co-op.

All I know about the game is the YEARS of it being advertised at my local GameStop, and the commercial for it displaying some really poor facial animations. It just looks like a bad game.

If the IGN stream was any sign- its not just the facial animations that are laughable. :(

Human character movement- both in the cutscenes and of NPCs in-game- looks absolutely horrific.

No Ouya option? :(

..... No no, its ok, I can understand why you didn't include it. :P (Or the Nvidia Shield... or the Surface Pro... or the Razer Tablet... Or the Gamestick... XD )

Anyway, believe it or not, the Ouya is the only new console coming that I have any urge to get immediately. The other consoles? Probably not within the next 18 months.

At the very least, I'll probably end up getting the next Playstation at some point. But again, definitely not within the next 18 months.

This pretty much made up my mind for me. Just watch it on YouTube for proper size'n'all.

..... It's hideous... o_O

It all looked so utterly hideous, bland, and janky- even AvP 2010 looks better. D:

That NPC skating around was the last straw for me- I could only watch the first 18 minutes of this. :\
