@haz: great points. Microsoft has sorta changed their definition of success with Game Pass. As they focus on creating a service, their goals are based on engagement.

@qrowdyy: it’s gonna take time, but I think in the long run it will work out.

I’m glad they’re investing in games. I’m glad they have a pretty filled slate for 2019. I’m excited for the new Gears and happy to see third party support in force.

But there’s one (correct me if I’m wrong) Xbox / PC exclusive coming this fall, Forza. That’s a problem, and it’s a frustrating demonstration of how far behind Microsoft is in comparison to Sony.

I don’t really care about console wars, I have all three and play most of my games on PC. But Microsoft’s releases schedule this year is light, and I hope this is the exception and not the rule.

@bybeach: I think I'm in the same position. I don't need to read a full review before I buy a game, but I like reading them sometimes. A combination of early coverage, the ability to return Steam and Origin games, and a bunch journos and streamers who I trust (or at least know about any disclosure issues) are enough to help me make a decision.

That being said, I think it's a little sketch what Bethesda and other companies are doing. It's like they are trying to suppress details on a game before release and promote their own channels or promoted sources. And while I get this may help their bottom line, it's not great for someone who doesn't know if they should buy a game and turns to the highest ranked video on youtube or 5 minutes of a twitch stream for answers.

@cthomer5000: I thought it was dumb, now I just think it's turned the corner and become this weird meta commentary on mid carders. Regardless, it made Fandango and Breeze interesti... watchable.
