Please insert disk.
Please insert disk.

I was fishing around the Bioware site for the Dragon age: Awakning relsease date on the PS3 the other day and I started to read the FAQ for some more concrete confirmation. As I read down the list I came to the release section and was pleased to find that it would be out for PS3 on the 19th in Europe. My smile slowly morphed into a frown as I noticed there would be no physical disk release on the PS3 in Europe at all, and would only be available via PSN. Usually I'd say I couldn't care less, but I have £50 or so worth of store credit at Gamestation and my main perchase was going to be awakening. I was hoping I'd wake up from this nightmare in a cold sweat, and then drift back to sleep with a copy of the expansion in my hand but there was no such awakening.

Forgetting my specifics, this is still very much a problem for others too. What will become of the potential DA:A buyer who isnt hooked up to PSN? I realise this may or may not be a minority at this point but either way no physical release means no game for some people out there. I read up about it and apparently its a Sony, not Bioware malfunction, some legality about simultanious PSN and disk based release in Europe. I'm sure most are probably aware of this since the expansion is so close to release now but incase you didnt, now you know.

Guess its going to be £50's worth of god of War instead then.

" Taken is like a bad version of a Bourne film. It's just a cliche to use. I don't think anyones complaining about Call Of Duty ripping of all the cliche WWII movies so just live with it I guess.       P.S Fuck this it's Christmas  "
No ones complaining full stop. I think the only real similarity in between taken and bourne is people fight. The pace of the movie is completely different, not saying the Bourne movies are bad. it is correct that conviction is a cumulative experience that looks as if it works, the comparison just seemed too obvious to not state, nothing to blow a gasket over.

@ZmillA: A father out for payback who used to work for the govornment and theyve turned theyre back on him (the french guy in the movie), and and.. the fast paced brutal hand to hand combact and gun play (mark and execute). I think talking about the nature of the action does fly, I liked the movie because the action was quick and fast paced in a way id not seen before and seeing clips of the game, gameplay or otherwise reminded me of it. Its just my opinion man.

@ZmillA: and? The quickness and predatory nature of the action is very comparable, even the typography that they project on the walls looks similar to the type of the movie title, not to mention basic nature of the plot. Watch the movie and then a video of the game, its easy to see. I'm not trying to take apart the game, I think it looks great, I'd just never heard anyone compare the two when it seemed obvious.

As much as I think splinter cell conviction looks wicked, It just seems like when the original version of the game went tits up they watched the movie Taken and decided to make a game on that instead. I've not seen anyone mention it but its so obvious after watching the movie, from the story to the gameplay. Credit where credits due ubisoft.

I was more immersed in Morrowind, but I was in no way dissapointed with Oblivion. Even though Oblivion had full voice over and slightly better AI, I think its because Morrowind had a more exotic style, I was more mystified by the land and people.

It was a major factor for the purchase yeah. I realize that the 360 deal means only good things for everyone involved but I do feel a bitter sensation.

Am I the only one that couldn't care less about trophies? I was never into the achievements thing either.

I never feel the need to listen to my own music when I'm playing a game.
