I am so glad that joining Giant Bomb was the thing that introduced Austin to me, and everything he's done for and on the site has been absolutely amazing. I'm excited to see where he goes, but I'll certainly miss him on the Beastcast. That show's the highlight of my week. Thanks for all the work here.

I liked the character designs a lot and the interactions were mostly pretty fun, but the combat and over-arching story never clicked with me. I think my love of Rise held my interest for about 30 hours, after which I gave it up. Soundtrack is A+ tho.

I feel Exactly the same way! How long have you played? I'm about 10 hours in and I feel like it's *starting* to click with me. It's certainly an overwhelming game, and there seems to be a lot of stuff carried over from the first game (that I didn't play). However, nothing at the start seems super critical, so it's perfectly okay to take your time to get accustomed to the systems and it won't hurt you long-term by missing anything. What's keeping me going more than the mechanics or anything is just the style; I love (some of) the music and the feeling of the giant plain with all these weird monsters. But, yeah, you're not alone at all! I'm constantly on the internet or the guide trying to figure out (or remember) what anything does or is. Then again, I'm very patient with games and this is one of the few I'll buy this year, so I don't mind this so much.

The best genre name has already been proposed and established: Lords Management. LoMas for short. No one calls them MOBAs anymore.

I had been waiting on a new 3D Picross game until just the other day. That was probably at the top of my list. Still waitin' on Persona 5.

Sometimes you just move on for a bit. In a few months or a year or so, you'll probably find some games you wanna play. Or, you might not. In the meantime, you can find some other fun things to do. Heck, maybe read a darn book or two.

The argument against violence I find most persuasive is simply that it is kind of boring when all games are about it. Fortunately, we are in a time right now where there are plenty of games that provide pleasant alternatives to brutal 3-dimensional violence. So hooray for that. I guess you could argue that it's kind of sad that basically all games with a AAA budget are about or involve lots of violence. Oh well.

Personally, (probably because I have played a lot of video games), I find extreme violence for no reason to put me off any sort of media. It just doesn't appeal to me at all. But, as I mentioned before, there are lots of other things I can watch/read/play.

I can see where he is coming from but I don't necessarily agree with his premise. This guy, I think, is coming at it from a very parental, Jack Thompson-esque view. This article, I would say, is too darn X-treme.

Yeah, game prices are getting insane. In Canada it's 78 dollars for a new console game. Splatoon was the first game I've bought for that price in a long time, and that was only after thinking about it a whole lot. You can save a lot of money just by buying games a few months or a year after they come out. But, a lot of people are willing to pay the money just to be part of the zeitgeist, or they are made impatient by reading reviews and forums and such.

Just chiming in to say that I definitely hear it too. I always have to turn my speakers up to hear GB videos with the video's volume slider on full. Not a big deal but if it gets much worse it'll be an issue.
