Microsoft have spent so much money, while making little profit, precisely to build up the brand. Just selling it off when it's finally become a household name doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

And what would Sony do with it, even if they were in a position to buy something like that? Other than effectively killing one of their competitors, I don't see what value it would be to them.

@Seppli: The developers have (unofficially) mentioned on sites like Guru and Reddit that they eventually plan to introduce some kind of "scavenger hunt", which would be a long/difficult quest chain that would eventually reward you with a precursor. But they've also said that it's in early design stages and probably won't be introduced for a while. No idea if the reward is something you'd get to pick or if it'd throw something random at you. Either way, lowering the prices wouldn't be a bad thing.

I'm really hoping the upcoming achievement/reward system has some way of giving loadstones too, since they're probably the most ridiculous material you need to grind. I guess it's also possible precursors could eventually be part of that system.

Response times would be kinda slow I figure, but I don't see why it wouldn't be possible. If we could transmit TV from the moon landing in '69 then I don't see why we couldn't have internet to the moon today.

What makes you think the "moon landing" footage was transmitted from the moon??

Because if you think the moon landing was faked, you're a moron.

@Dchao: It did drop to £35 on a lot of sites, but I wouldn't expect it to drop any lower anytime soon. They need to make up for the fact there's no monthly fee, and considering how much content you're getting, I really find it hard to complain.

The legendary grind does seem a bit insane, but I don't think it's something they really intended you to grind for, more just something you'd eventually have the materials for and considering some of the improvements they've been talking about, I think it'd be a big mistake go out of your way for one right now. Even just the precurser scavenger hunt should make things a lot less painfull

I think it might be moderately fun as a little time waster game, the problem is that the pricing structure is absolutely disgusting. Especially considering you have to buy the app and then spend more purchasing premium characters and it doesn't even let you pick your favourite ones, it's a complete gamble.

Look at something like Pocket Planes on the other hand, which similarly doesn't have much gameplay besides tapping the screen to send your planes to new destinations, but there's still at least SOME strategy involved there and everything can eventually be unlocked without ever needing to spend any money.. and that app is completely free to download.

There was not attempt to make a compelling game here, just a money sink. It's perhaps the most cynical iOS release I've ever seen and that's really saying something.

The Legacy of Kain games, particularly the Soul Reaver ones. They have quite a big cult following, but deserved way more attention and success than they got. I'd like to see a remake/reboot after they're done with Tomb Raider, but I'm not sure a project like that would work without Amy Hennig.

Alpha Protocol had some really unfairly harsh reviews. It had problems, but pulled off the branching storyline in a way that no other developer ever has before or since and if it had the Bioware or Bethesda logo on the box, I don't think it would have received anywhere near as much criticism for the bugs and such.

I'm not sure how hidden Injustice is. It's a DC licence and being made by Netherrealm with considerable hype behind it. It'll probably be one of the biggest sellers of the year.

I don't think Fuse is at all noteworthy either. The original trailer for OverStrike looked fantastic and they managed to turn it into the most generic looting shooter of the year.. It'll be mediocre at best and sink without a trace, running the risk of killing Insomniac in the process. I really don't know what they're thinking with that game. And Killzone? Well, whatever floats your boat.

@egg: F-Zero was always pretty popular. The problem was the Sega developed GX on the Gamecube and Nintendo felt it was "too hard", despite the fact the game remains very well received and sold well at the time.

The sequel to the GBA game, which was based on the crappy anime, completely bombed though and that seems to have put them off making another one. Same thing happened with Star Fox, they assumed nobody wanted the games, because they kept making bad ones. Metroid is pretty much dead after Other M too and let's not get started on Earth-"it didn't do well 20 years ago, so why would it now?"-Bound. It's another example of Nintendo being almost hilariously out of touch with certain things. At least they're bringing back Pikmin.

@RecSpec: Maybe it will happen eventually. My only point was that Capcom seemed to had given up releasing Monster Hunter over here and the only reason we're seeing Ultimate 3, is because Nintendo stepped in. Most likely for the same reason they're publishing games like Bayonetta for the Wii U. They alienated a lot of "core gamers" and are trying to win back favour. It's not a bad idea, I just don't see MH suddenly taking off in popularity over here and if 3 does do badly, I don't think there's much chance of us seeing an English version of 4 on any platform.

Capcom's official statement on the matter is "don't believe everything you read".

Which doesn't surprise me. This never sounded like anything more than wishful thinking and after 3 bombs on the Wii U/3DS, I doubt we'll ever see an English version of 4 anyway. The only reason we're even getting that one is because Nintendo is publishing it.
