Bad art styles can definitely hurt. They absolutely ruined Valkyria Chronicles 2 by making everything hyper generic anime, I guess to appeal to a larger audience.
Typical sensationalism. Reading the headline, I can understand why people are shocked. How can he possibly think his life compares to being a soldier?
And I'm guessing most people stopped reading there, because if you read his actual quote.. what he says really isn't particularly bad. Unfortunate choice of words, maybe, but nothing offensive or even really worth commenting on.
Nuts & Bolts is a ridiculously underrated game, easily one of the highlights from this gen and sadly ignored under the weight of complaints that "Rare don't make good games now" or "it isn't a real Banjo game".
It doesn't come close to standing up to the behemoth that is Minecraft though.
Reddit comments are annoying. If there is a bandwagon of sorts going, if you go against it. Even with posting facts you'll get downvoted into oblivion.
While I do agree with you, I only do so partially. It really depends on the subreddit you're browsing. I've had very interesting conversations with people in forums like /r/DCComics or /r/BaldrursGate. And /r/PCMasterRace, of course.
At least it's not Tumblr. Have you seen those Social Justice Warriors and HAES-supporters? They are the worst.
Tumblr is a blogging website, you can post whatever you want to your blog and reply to whoever you want. You don't have to agree with everyone, but no one is going to censor you. The problem with Reddit is that downvotes will lead to your comments becoming invisible and most subreddits just become a hive mind, where anyone disagreeing with the majority being downvoted and driven away. There's absolutely no room for reasoned criticism or discussion. I'll take social justice and equality protestors over circle jerking and bandwagoning.
I think that the PS4 will be the winner of the next gen, the Xbox One makes me cringe.
I think at the moment, that's because a large part of most gaming communities have been ripping apart Microsoft at every given opportunity (justified in some situations, but still). It's exactly what we saw happen to Sony with the launch of the PS3 and it forced them to completely turn around to rethink the situation and arguably to eventually surpass the 360. Hedging your bets before the new systems have even launched seems a little premature.
Personally, I think Nintendo is going to benefit from this the most. The new systems are expensive, will undoubtedly have technical problems at launch and any really big "killer app" games are likely a good year or two away at least. Meanwhile, the Wii U is getting cheaper and is finally building up a library of games worth playing. Unless all you want is fancy new tech (in which case, go buy a PC), I really see no reason for anyone to buy a new system at launch.
Still crossing my fingers that they don't fuck up the EU. Good to have a date, though.
They have to and already said they would ignore it. How can they make more Star Wars without conflicting with something from the EU, when people have even written stories about the frikken bar staff at the cantina. The EU is just too large and mostly complete garbage.
Captain Falcon has been there since the beginning, so I doubt they'd omit him at this point. Same goes for Samus, as well. Just because they haven't been announced doesn't mean they're not in the game. Hell, they did a big "announcement" that Luigi was in the game!
Luigi and Captain Falcon have always been secret characters and they said they wouldn't announce who the secret characters are ahead of time. They only made a big deal out of Luigi because it's the year of Luigi. You gotta celebrate that!
Any/all of the Lego games. I'd probably recommend Harry Potter and Batman 2 the most though.
Really simple to play, but there's enough depth to keep more serious gamers entertained. Especially if you're amused by smashing things and like to unlock crazy amounts of content.
