@arcitee: Even if you could play Royal in NG+ from the start I don't think it would actually shave off that much of that total playtime, just given the way the game is structured. You still have to progress through the game day by day and clear dungeons. Most of the stuff that would speed up that process can be done regardless.

If you want to skip through cutscenes you've already seen you can do that. If you want to make the game easier you can drop down the difficulty or take advantage of some of the free DLC Persona that are super OP. Money isn't much of an issue in Royal either, past the early game. The biggest thing you would be able to skip over is raising your social stats, but I don't feel like that adds that much extra time.

It also wouldn't make sense to just let you start the new end game right away, since there's a lot of added content in the main game that is necessary to build up to it. It's not like The Answer in P3: FES, where it was an entirely self-contained epilogue.

If you're not interested in replaying the game as a whole I don't think there's a scenario where Royal would be a worthwhile experience to you.

@wiseman4545: I think you misunderstand. I don't care about maturity of video games, I care about your ignorance. People spouting ignorance is never okay in my book.

But if ignoring you will prove my indifference to the subject matter I am more than willing to accommodate you there.

Although you do realize what website you're on, right? The one founded and run by a bunch of 30-40 year olds who almost universally adore Nintendo games? Just throwing that out there.

@hayt: google 'nintendo is for kids'...it's a known thing. i'm not saying anything remotely original or controversial.

Yeah, it's a common sentiment by 13 year olds who are trying to seem like they're "mature" because they play Call of Duty instead of Nintendo games like Mario.

It's not actually a thing among most grown ups. Grown ups don't care. Not the ones that actually take video games seriously anyway.

No, definitely don't do that.

If this was right after Heavensward's launch I could maybe see the point, since you'd be able to catch up with the playerbase a lot quicker, but even if you skip ARR you still have a long road until you catch up to current content, so you might as well take your time. It's not really that bad, especially as you get farther into ARR content. For the most part they greatly reduce the amount of that stuff in the post 2.0 content.

The most important thing when starting an MMO is personal interest. MMO's are pretty big commitment, so which MMO is the most beginner friendly is not a good motivation to start one imo. If you're actually interested and enjoy the MMO you're playing you will pick up the intricacies with time. And FFXIV definitely gives you ample time to pick up those intricacies before it really matters, so if that's the one that you are most interested in trying it's going to be the best one to start with.

@tru3_blu3: I think you've misunderstood what they mean by there being no "classes". They just mean you don't pick a single class (aka Paladin, Cleric, etc) and play that for the duration. "Solo", "Techie", "Netrunner" basically are the classes though, and you mix and match skills from those categories to make your own unique class that fits your playstyle.

An example that comes to mind would be a bit like Dark Souls, where you could start as a "Knight" but end up playing a mage character by the end if you want, depending on how you decide to build your character. Except there seems to be much more depth to each of those categories than just assigning different stats to use a certain weapon type.

@relkin: There are a few I would rank close or better, but the series as a whole? That's an argument that I would find hard to fathom, and I feel like the general consensus agrees.

But hey, to each their own.

@relkin: What you just described is basically the Tales franchise in a nutshell. Suggesting someone skip over this game in favor of the other games that do the same thing (and usually to a much worse degree) is...odd, to say the least.

Vesperia is far from perfect, but it is better than the average Tales game.

"Xeno" series tier list: Xenosaga > Xenoblade > Xenogears > Xenoblade 2 > Xenoblade X (If I were to rank Xenosaga per volume the vol. 2 would be a lot lower, but eh.)

Also another vote for Radiant Historia. Best time travel RPG since Chrono Trigger.

@boozak: The major end game content a lot of other MH games have had is G rank monsters, but those are generally in the updated versions of a game. They've said they might add G rank to World, but it would be normal for the series if they just released an "Ultimate" version later with G rank and more monsters. At least we know we are getting more monsters in World as free DLC.

@doctordonkey: This is a valid point. Someone brought up Diablo 3, but did we forget how much of a shitshow D3's end game was at launch? It took many many many updates to get to the state it is today. Getting a satisfying 100 hours out of a game is already a pretty big accomplishment, is it really that big of a knock if it can't sustain 1000 at launch, hardcore fanbase aside?
