@hayt: If you land then take off then try to land in the same spot, it is very very hard. Things look the same. Planets are mindbogglingly massive. There is no map. There is no lat/long. No compass. The best test I could do was land "near" a story check point deform stuff, take off, land near it again. The deformations were not present.

Also as far as finding the same spot if it "sticks out enough". The pop in is so dramatic you can't see formations in the disance. You gotta get right up on that thing. So nothing but buildings really stick out from the sky. You fly 30secs from a mountain then turn around, you may not see that mountain or the shape of the mountain will be slightly different than when you get close. PC may make this dramatically easier to test. I really hope draw distance and terrain generation take advantage of my hardware. If so we may get more varied terrain.

@oursin_360:Honestly I doubt it man. You have no ping in this game. There is no synchronizing with others. Its single player. Packets have been sniffed and it seems the only info it sends are planet/animal/rock names when you warp. So if it is a bug it would be local. Like the game should save deformations made on my local hard disk and reload those deformations after generating the planet as I enter the atmosphere; or this was never a real feature and the game just does not have persistence past naming things. Again things could change with base building i suppose. But even that could be simple to implement. Building was built at x and y coordinates so place it on terrain after entering the atmosphere...

@hayt: That rock would be there. But you would

A) Have a hell of a time finding it again, there is no marking waypoints in this game so finding the exact spot is very difficult.

B) If you blew it up the rock would regenerate, the terrain basically resets every time you leave.

Honestly the game pushes you ever forward so its not completely game breaking. If base building is really going to be implemented, persistence will have to be as well. Hopefully at some point in the future we can leave our mark on the planet; even if we're the only ones who will see it. I don't think this game will ever let me carve my name in a rock for others to see...but maybe just maybe others will see our bases.

@bdead: I am also confused. Would love more tests from the GB community. I want to know if this is a local issue (which would be weird because this sort of persistence would be saved on my local disk) or if it is indeed a networking thing (which I doubt as someone on neogaf packet captured the game and it seems the only thing sent out is discovery names).

@bdead: It doesn't. "Multiplayer" aside, my original point was it is not persisting the changes I make to my game when I leave the planet. Everything resets.

@development: From the Reddit AMA: "Innes and Charlie are here working on it right now, but every time someone asks we take away one degree of field of view http://imgur.com/L9CIxSR"

Seeing this game at full 60fps, wider fov, and hopefully better draw distance will be awesome. Really dig the core of this game.

@development: FOV is 60 which is very close. PC version should fix this. Don't think it will change on PS4 as lower FOV means less to render on screen.
