Cats are the best imo. I know it's a dorky internet thing, but looking at random pictures of cats doing derpy things always puts a smile on my face.

Which reminds me y'all are failing this thread by not putting more cute pet pics.

I am hoping we'll just see a Switch 2 (eventually) that's a big upgrade from Switch technically but with the same convenient form factor. Somehow though I imagine that Nintendo is going to do something wild like AR.

I don't know if it's underrated, exactly, but Spiritfarer is very good and deserves your attention.

There's no "none" option? I don't have a gaming PC, and I'm happy sticking with PS4 and Switch for now. I may *eventually* pick up a PS5, but I don't have a strong desire to do that atm. I have no interest in Xbox.

I enjoyed the Mass Effect games, but they sometimes seemed like they were trying too hard to raise the stakes and make you feel like a badass. I like the world and the lore they've created and I'd like to see them do something more with it than the usual cliches.

I personally never liked the blank-slate type of protagonist. Shephard in particular was just SO bland. I'd like a strong central character who has a motivation beyond "I need to save the universe." Maybe someone who is more of a plucky hero type and not a badass military action hero.

@justin258@sombre I only played the demo, but, absolutely agreed on the music. The battle music is just incessantly annoying - why does it sound like the theme song to a bad '70s cop show? And the main theme sounds like it is just way too reverent for the original game without maturing into its own. I like the Zelda approach to its original source material - it often has musical hints of the overworld theme from the NES game but rarely replays it entirely.

Also wasn't a big fan of the character art style or the cliche story. That said... there was a certain charm and warmth to everything. I could see myself getting into it if I kept with it.

Oh, and the main guy really needs a cooler haircut.

This whole situation is fascinating. The fact that such a high-profile game could have performance that's so bad on current-gen consoles is amazing. I know that they are several years old at this point but... I still think of PS4 as being pretty powerful? As far as I can tell there's nothing gameplay-wise that is necessarily so taxing on Cyberpunk compared to other open-world games, and open-world games have been a staple of the industry since the PS3 era at least. By this point, most games should be able to scale their settings pretty easily for whatever hardware they are on. Like how Id could cram Doom Eternal onto Switch and have it run pretty smoothly. If it can't scale well... does that mean the engine was just badly designed from the start? I know nothing about game development so this is probably nonsense. Curious to see someone more knowledgeable weigh in on technical aspects...

But the truth is, this sucks. This is shit for everyone involved. It's shit for the developers who crunched for months to get the game done, it's shit for the players who were excited for a new game, and it's shit for everyone else here too - there's not that many developers out there than can afford to take risks on such huge, expansive, big budget productions like this, and one of the few Devs that was willing to take a crack at a new IP has just taken a huge hit, both financially and in terms of their reputation. That only serves to discourage others from taking similar risks.

It just sucks.

Agreed. I'm feeling extra bad for all those developers at CDPR who now probably have to crunch through the holidays to get the game patched to a state worth selling again.

Yikes. I would refuse to crunch at this point. What could they do, fire me? I would think CDPR needs their devs more than they need CDPR at this point. Unless you are someone they can point to as being responsible in some way for this mess.

I never had that much interest in this game, but this whole fiasco has been fascinating to watch. People have a right to be pissed off, but I can't help but put myself in the place of the devs (not so much the execs.) Imagine crunching on a game like this for months, working crazy hours, huge stress, and then seeing a 4/10 on IGN. Ouch. That must feel like a real gut punch.

I'll go back and play this for sure. I remember saving up my money for months because I wanted it so bad on SNES, and it was only ever anywhere for like $70. I eventually got it on Wii Virtual Console. It's pretty good! Not as good as DKC1 or 2 for my money, but still worth your time for sure. It's probably the best looking of the three. My main complaint is that some of the music is bad although someother tracks are great.
