I wasn't into RPGs, but though the scope and mechanics of Skyrim would allow me to have fun. It didn't, and after 1 hour of gameplay I put it back into the shelf - I had bought it release week too.
My STEAM library is about 200 games and that's probably less than 1% of the whole STEAM catalog, and if I have a fair amount of games I don't deem fun in my library, I'm sure the catalog has way more not-fun or interesting games there, so it's tough to nominate 5 awesome ones each round.
Also, the games that are interesting on STEAM, indie or AAA, are usually featured first on this site as Unfinished or Quick Look (or they will be), and I'd hate for a chat pick UPF session to feature a game that has been already covered on the site beforehand.
I thought the purpose of this UPF (at least the last one) was to help duders decide if a game is worth their money and purchase (like the table top simulator bit today), and that probably comes with the consequence of featuring boring or unfun games. Yes, today had some stinkers though
UPF better consist of them just playing Unreal Tournament and Quake 3 Arena for three hours.
I think that would be for the benefit of Dan, but in the mailbag video, it made it to seem that Dan and Jason were going on a trip so they might not be available for UPF
I haven't been following all the hoopla, nor do I have any knowledge of Jason's and Dan's backgrounds (Giantbomb is the only videogame site I have time to follow), so my comments may come off as totally ignorant:
Do people want more racially and gender diverse hires so they can bring in diverse opinions from the original core? If so, are they not acknowledging that gender and race are not the only contributing factors of diverse opinions? I mean, Jason and Dan can have different backgrounds/educations/cultural upbringings that would lead to opinions and perspectives that are different to the rest of the GB Squad. I believe the members of the original GB Squad have different backgrounds, which lead to their specific perspectives and interests on various items.
Very nice suggestions, I have Hitman GO on iPad, didn't realize it was on the iPhone. Time to finish it, although they are challenging puzzles. Hearthstone looks like its iPad only, not iPhone, but if it was on iPhone, that would be a great time waster --- Although I think it requires always on internet connection which is not available on the airplane
Haven't been really following the iPhone gaming community, my latest installed games are Threes! and Blek. Probably the games before that are Angry Birds/Bad Piggies.
I'll be on a 11 hr each way, so what are some new (or old that I have not heard of) games that you guys recommend? I like all types of games as long as they are fun! Please no games that cost individually more than $10!
I use my PS3 controller on my macbook and it just works for most games. Of course you'll have to translate the 360 buttons to PS3 buttons whilst playing, but that isn't really a problem. Off the top of my head, games like Dust: An Elysian Tale, Bastion, Guacamalee, Trine 2 and Rogue Legacy work straight up.
For games that don't support it at all, you'll find a workaround on any app that lets you translate PS3 controller inputs into keyboard inputs. So just configure "x" on the d-pad to whatever key is jump on the game, for example. I used one but it has been a while so I don't really remember the name to recommend you.
How did you connect your PS3 to the macbook? Just by the USB cable and it works, or do you need to download and install 3rd party drivers? Thanks
I'm looking to use my PS3 controller on my iMac for STEAM games that don't support PS3 controllers, but support 360 ones. On my Windows PC, I would install MotionJoy and use it to emulate the PS3 controller as a 360 one. Is there any way to do this on Mac? For reference, I'm thinking of the F1 2013 racing game.
