Best of 2010

This is my personal opinion, and I'm sure there are many, many others. It's just that I'm right and they are wrong.

  • Despite not having the impact of the first game, Bioshock 2 is still an immersive experience. The improved combat and emphasis on protection reenforce the role of the Big Daddy. The Minerva's Den expansion elevates the title further with a fascinating and emotional short story.

  • The 2010 special edition brings a wonderful voice-track and splendid updated graphics. Still one of the finest games of all time.

  • The best multiplayer experience of the year. Perfectly balanced with reward for cooperation and team play over sporting competition. Loads of unlockables and endless entertainment.

  • Still my favourite series after Monkey Island, the latest installment invests much more time on developing the Professor's character further. A cracking yarn complements the usual assortment of puzzles. Love it.

  • How do Criterion do it? What starts as a slow burner soon has you racing for 5 minutes without blinking. An astonishingly good game and the best Need For Speed title to date.

  • Totally unexpected, DX reinvents Pac Man into a highly tactical, lightning paced, arcade game. Quite brilliant.

  • Delivered on action and adrenaline. One of the best arcade racers of recent years. Only trumpted later in the year by the excellent Hot Pursuit.

  • Disgraceful bugs almost ruin this game, but the sheer size and audacity of New Vegas lifts it out of the mire. Interesting sub-plotting and tweaks to the karma/faction system makes New Vegas another fascinating wasteland to explore.
