Mostly succeeds as a linear, action-packed and emotional rollercoaster. The voice acting and dialog are generally quite good, as is the music. The story starts off on the right foot, with a masterful first act. It finishes with a strong, tearjerker ending, diminished somewhat by clumsy ambiguity. However the bulk of the game is padded out with boring sidequests. Loot is pointless which makes all content outside of story boss battles also feel pointless. The world feels both small and yet left unexplored, several mysteries are introduced and dropped, and things are built up without payoff. Metia makes no sense, Leviathan seems to be DLC bait, the Fallen are never really explored, and the Enterprise never takes flight... These issues contribute to making the game feel limited compared to many of the previous entries in the series.

Grim, bloody horror is back and paid off big giving the game a honeymoon period of positive sentiment. Afterwards it became clear the game had released undercooked, unbalanced, and lacking much in its itemization. Post-campaign, it fails to provide a satisfying loot-hunting experience.
