Modern Warfare 3

I’ve had a few days to play and try the new Call of Duty, and I must say I’ve thoroughly enjoyed playing every frustrating second of it. The campaign, in my opinion, was a great way to tie off the series. I myself enjoyed it while I received a few iced reviews about it among my friends. From the moment you jump into the game, you’re given a bit of the back story from where they left off in Modern Warfare 2 so if this is your first time jumping into the MW franchise you need not play the other ones to get the idea of the story. Although I would definitely recommend doing so soon just because they are great games.
Campaign:
For those familiar with the series, the campaign takes you in several different directions as you assume the control of several characters from different task forces. Each having their own mission as this game takes place in nearly every part of the world. We once again find ourselves chasing down Makarov who has in sense, instigated the start of WW3 with several chemical and biological attacks around the world. We start the game as the now disavowed Task force 141, of Price,MacTavish(Soap),Nicolai, and a newcomer by the name of Yuri. of whom we learn more about as the story progresses. The group in trying to revive Soap who was nearly fatally wounded at the conclusion of MW2. While this is happening, they are attacked by Makarov’s soldiers and have to fight their way out. From there we are now part of the delta squad who is tasked with taking out a russian jammer located in New York. and it just takes off from there. I won’t spoil anything for those of you who have yet played it.
Spec Ops:
There are two modes in Spec Ops this year, the usual missions based mode which we were introduced to in MW2 and the new Survival mode. Survival mode is very much like Horde mode in the Gears of War series. Admittedly this is where I’ve spent most of my gameplay time after the campaign. In survival mode, it’s either you or you and an online friend against an endless wave of attacking enemies which increase in difficulty as you progress. Along the way you unlock 3 different armories. Weapons (guns) ,Explosives, and Air Support.. Now while all of the armories unlock after three waves, the perks themselves are only unlocked after certain levels and must be purchased using in game skill points. This is where strategy will definitely come into play. I will say though, save your money in the earlier rounds for the air support because that will be VERY important later.
My overall opinion of the game is that it’s another solid release from the COD franchise. A great job was done by all involved. And with the major improvements that were made and shown through the multiplayer,it shows that the developers definitely listened to the community fan base and have given us back a lot in what we’ve asked for.
