Here's another replay from today, this time against Protoss. Showing how you can go M/M/M against Colossi and still win, as long as you are on top of getting upgrades at the Engineering Bay.

Again, trying to incorporate Reapers early on, this time mostly for scouting purposes. He put up a good fight with the Colossi, but once you have 2/2 upgrades, the Marine/Marauder ball is completely overpowering.

@evildeadron:  Sadly most of the Zerg I play against are pretty poor, this guy being one of them. But it's Silver league, so there's a lot of people still learning everything.

I've been trying to make more use of Reapers against Zerg and I've been finding a lot of success with them so far. Not enough to win the game outright, but enough to set them back and keep them disoriented while I take my expansion and tech up.

This was a funny match I played earlier today. I mainly play Terran and had been experimenting with Reaper harass, which I never really use.

The Zerg 6 pools and fails, then I proceed to harass him and deny him expansions until I eventually push forward and destroy him.

Nothing serious, but I was pretty entertained by it.

Thanks for uploading the replay.

Keep messing with this build and upload a replay of you doing it once you're out of the practice league. All the rocks kind of allow for stuff like this to happen without much interference, since it's all people who are 100% new to the game.

But I do see how it could be somewhat-successful against someone who isn't constantly scouting. Real risky, though. Getting your natural before your pool is risky on it's own, nevermind when you're saving up to get 3 more expos.

hmm.....interesting....

I guess a lot of it's success would also depend on the map and the spawning locations....

I might have to give this a shot myself, just to see it in action

Actually, would the OP mind posting his replay? I think we'd all be really curious to see how it went down

out of curiosity, about how long did getting that bunch of expansions take?
Also, when did you actually squeeze in units?
I mean, it seems that if you're putting that much minerals and supply into just drones and expos, you'd be really vulnerable to any real aggression earlier on.

@jakob187:  I meant my suggestions to be for earlier in the game, to help out against any super early aggression.

I mainly play Terran, so my Zerg strategy isn't great or I'd try to offer more suggestions for the mid-late game. Anytime I play as Zerg I tend to try to be very aggressive and put them on the defensive, which can make up for the lack of Zerg defense. It also gives you a good window of time right after your first attack to grab an expansion, which will give you more minerals and more larva, so you can build up more drones and units a lot faster than your opponent will be able to, since you just attacked.

But all of that can be really hard to manage and time properly, especially if you're new to the game.

The importance of creep really can't be underestimated.

One of the most important things in a Zerg army, yet one of the most easily forgotten. Always be spreading creep around with the creep tumors and connecting your expansions. That way it takes substantially less time for you to support your army in the event of an attack.
