Since some of the talk in here has been related to the region I thought this was an interesting and related graphic.

I'm personally against this law & support gay marriage. Yet I'm pretty floored by the amount of people attacking those who support the bill for, oh I don't know, having their own fucking opinion? If that's how they want their state to be then it's on them & we shouldn't ridicule them for it. It's not like you can't move to another state & get married if you really want. As much as some of you guy's think your right, the south has a very different culture & society. Is it always for the best, no. But it pisses me off to see people verbally attack others for having their own opinion, even if it may seem stupid to us.

People should be free to have their own opinions, that does not mean that they should be immune to criticism when they express reprehensible ones. If some small town politician expressed the idea that white people are inherently superior to other races, I would correctly call him a racist and oppose his election. That does not mean that I oppose his right to have that opinion.

We really should have done more to fix the South during Reconstruction.

To be fair to the people who were called bigots for opposing gay marriage. There is also the chance that it was due to idiocy. Most people oppose same-sex marriage because of bigotry towards gay people, but they could have simply been fooled by one of the factual baseless arguments used by opponents of same-sex marriage.

The seem to be the only available options to me since in nearly a decade of debating this topic I have never found an argument against same-sex marriage that actually holds up to scrutiny.

Good, on Obama for doing this. He's still a kind of shitty president.

I'm currently working as a administrator at a financial firm. I'll soon receive my BA in History in preparation for teaching.

For Board Games I would suggest Dominion, Battlestar Galactica, Ticket to Ride, Settlers of Catan, and Carcassone.

For tabletop RPGs D&D 4th is pretty easy to pick up, but I prefer the Warhammer 40k games Dark Heresy, Rogue Trader, Deathwatch, and Black Crusade.

Hey guys? The North is a fucked up third-world. Big surprise, I know.

Fixed that one for you.

Which region is the one famous for starting a war because they wanted to maintain a system of racially based slavery?

To be fair, we don't know shit about Trayvon Martin. Must you empathize with someone automatically? I'm not saying I agree with Fox News or anything (god no), I'm just saying all of this... it's sort of none of our business. We weren't there. Don't get sucked into the 24-hour news network hyperbole and soapboxing. For all we know, the kid could've been a dick - you certainly can't go by what his mother says about him. Fun Fact; all mothers say their kids are amazing. Watch a few episodes of The First 48 on A&E sometime and you'll see the relatives of murderers and criminals say nothing but wonderful things about 'em. Again, not saying anything about Trayvon Martin specifically - I just don't know any of the players in this whole situation personally, and I'd rather keep my nose out of all the hearsay and whatnot.

Or, I suppose, I'm just a bit of a sociopath. In which case, ignore my comments entirely. I do not want to get into a thing with the fine people of Giantbomb's Community...

Even if Trayvon was an asshole, that does not mean that some cop wannabe should have stalked him and shot him.

Why would that even matter if it were true?

Apparently it matters to a shitload of Americans. JFK was the first (and only) Catholic President and that mattered to a lot of people. He lost millions of votes because of his religious affiliation. A lot of people are "values voters" who choose the nominee that shares their view on social affairs, no matter the political ramifications. It's a pretty twisted way of thinking actually.

That was pretty silly too, but I guess I could see a little bit of reluctance from the fact that the Catholic Church has shown it is willing to use its position of power to attempt to influence Catholic politicians.

  • 2 Packages of Mixed Ground Meat (Beef, Pork, Veal)
  • 1 Large Can of Black Beans
  • 2 Large Onions Diced
  • 1 Can Re-fried Beans with Chirizo
  • 2 Cans Crushed Tomatoes
  • Jarred Jalapeno Peppers (to taste)
  • 1 1/2 - 2 Bottles of Honey Wheat Beer
  • BBQ Sauce
  • Curry Powder
  • Chili Powder
  • Adobo

I put the meat in a large pot and cook it in some oil while seasoning it with adobo. When the meet has cooked I'll add the Tomatoes. Once the tomatoes have heated up I'll add all of the other ingredients then lower the heat and let it cook for about three hours.

I don't see why this is surprising for pretty much the whole history of the United States the South has been an oppressive blight on our nation that achieves social progress primarily by being dragged along kicking and screaming. We should have done more to fix this in the 1860s & 1870s.

I have vaguely polytheistic beliefs, but I don't actually take part in any worship.
