The Green Dude Reviewed a Great Game 0

I'll be honest, I had high expectations for Bastion. I followed the game via Giantbomb's "Building The Bastion" series, and was truly thrilled to play this game made by such a small development team. Even more interesting was one of the developers is Greg Kasavin, a former Gamespot reviewer. Not many reviewers actually create games, so i would expect when they do, they would know what makes up a good game. I thought the game looked great, and the art style is beautiful, and hard to believe one p...

I Haz a Mobilized Trench 1

Weeks before the official "Summer of Arcade" begins, Double Fine has released Trenched for Xbox Live Arcade. You may ask, What exactly is Trenched? Trenched is not only an outstanding (third person) mech game, it also adds elements from tower defense games as well as loot mechanics from a game such as Diablo. The game takes place in a World War I era. There is some silly story about how a "broadcast" which made two people (Frank Woodrof and Vladamir Farnsworth) very, very smart. Woodrof used his ...

L.A. Noire is the latest game in what appears to be a yearly tradition of releasing spin offs of GTA style games published by Rockstar. Unlike Grand Theft Auto 4 and Red Dead Redemption, L.A. Noire is actually developed by Team Bondi. When you play this game, It's clear there was obvious support and help from Rockstar. Does L.A. Noire live up to the hype, will it be a game of the year contender like the past 2 games published by Rockstar? In L.A. Noire you play as Cole Phelps. Cole is a war veter...

Broken Game is Broken 0

I'll be honest, i thought brink had some potential. It was taking some bold steps into a new style of a class based online shooter. The game was suppose to truly be about working as a team, and completing the objective. Heck, they even removed the k/d ratio. With so much customization, and the ability to play the "campaign" online, this game sounded fantastic for me, as i loved team fortress 2 and Shadowrun. What i came to find when i actually purchased the game was that it was nothing but a rus...

The "Pillsbury" of Puzzle Games 0

Portal 2, simply put, is intelligent, innovative, and massively entertaining. At least, that’s what it says on the back of the box. But the truth is, the game is so much more than that. Portal 2 delivers an experience that not many other video games do. The game combines mind-bending puzzles, clever humor, and a great story to create a very strong game of the year contender for 2011. Portal 2 continues where the original left off. You are woken up by a small little robot, which leads to you runn...

Home is Where the Disappointment Is 0

Introduction Despite the release date review embargo, i really had high hopes for Homefront. A strong, story driven campaign was promised, which is something that is not seen very often in first person shooters. Needless to say, i waited until after reviews hit before deciding to give it a try. I debated heavily before buying after seeing the mixed reviews, and decided to get it anyway. The developers promised a lot with Homefront, but the game comes up short in almost every way.     Story Alth...

You're Gonna Love It 0

Introduction  The original Dead Space was released back in 2008, and it set a new standard for the survival / horror genre. The original had so many things right, but it wasn't without its flaws. Now, it's 2011 and Dead Space 2 has been released. I'm happy to say that the bar and standard for the genre has been raised once again.  StoryThe story in Dead Space 2 picks up right after Dead Space: Ignition (The free pre order bonus), or three years after the events of the original game. Without givi...

Treyarch's Best, Despite Numerous Flaws 0

With Activision screwing over Infinity Ward, it was a tough purchase for me to buy Call of Duty: Black Ops. I have nothing against Treyarch, but they have always made the inferior version of Call of Duty. Black Ops is a new and interesting take on Call of Duty, and i have to give Treyarch credit for that. Behind the curtain however, the game is filled with inconsistencies and glitches, mainly with the multiplayer, that make the game extremely frustrating.  The campaign was fantastic for a Call o...

It's a Revolution 0

It's extremely interesting to see how Fable has changed over the years. The first Fable game released on the original X-Box was mainly an RPG. When Fable 2 was released, it went more towards an action adventure style game, and it has done the same with Fable 3. Before the release of Fable III, I was worried. I hadn't actually heard much about the game and i knew there was an embargo until the day of release. Luckily, i purchased the game at a midnight launch event and was not turned off by the r...

The Name is Scaletta. Vito Scaletta. 0

After thoroughly enjoying the Mafia II demo on Xbox Live Marketplace, i added the game to my "Buy List". After playing the demo, i could definitely tell i liked many elements from the game, but there were also parts that weren't so enjoyable. The question many asked was "Is the game better than the demo?". It's a hard question to answer, because viewpoints may change from person to person. In my opinion, yes, the full game is better. What makes it better though?  The game start's off with you, V...

Starcraft II Changed my Life 1

Introduction After jumping on the hype train a few days before the release of the highly anticipated Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty, i was wondering if Blizzard could once again deliver. As a fan of many Blizzard games including Diablo, Starcraft, and even a little bit of World of Warcraft, i had high hopes. Did the game exceed my expectations? (Well.. obviously because you can see how many stars i gave it!)  Here's a few basics about Starcraft. Well it is an RTS... actually it is THE BEST RTS ...

A Decent Rental 0

I saw the Iron Man 2 movie in theaters the Saturday after it came out. Really liked the movie, although not as much as the first. I never bought the first Iron Man game, because i did not like flight control after playing the demo. I ended up getting this on eBay for $30. While i will admit i spent a little much, it wasn't a bad price for a game that was just released.  The game itself feels unfinished, especially in the graphical department. The cut scenes are original xbox graphics, in game ar...

Sam Fisher is Jack Bauer? 0

Intro. The day or two before Splinter Cell: Conviction was released I had told myself that i would definitely not buy this game. With reviews claiming the game lasts 5 hours, i saw no incentive to buy it immediately. I decided that i would just wait until it price dropped. Well, the Friday after release i ended up finding it for $42.99. Decided what the heck, it looks like a lot of fun and is getting solid reviews and everything. Thankfully, i made a great decision.   TitleThe title of my review...

The Truth Behind The Border 0

Intro                    Quite an odd title for a review, don't you think? It really doesn't say much about the game itself, but it says a lot about this review. After investing over 32 hours into this game (29 into my main character), I'm going to give you my honest opinion about Borderlands. This isn't some Rant about how long the game was delayed, it was rushed, or me saying its the best thing since sliced bread. Really around 10-15 hours into the game i would have reviewed this game higher, ...

Get Re-Shelled with TMNT 0

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in time, was a great game when it was fi insertrst released in the early 1990s.  The re-shelled edition has finally hit Xbox Live Marketplace, right in the middle of "Summer of Arcade". The question is, how does it compare to the previous version? Well... there are definitely mixed results. I am one , who didn't play this game back when it was released. I was born in '92, so it was a tad before my time. That's not to say that i don't appreciate games that...

Only Worth Achievements 0

This is a very short review for King Kong: The official game of the movie, simply because it has been a while since I have played it. I picked this game up probably sometime in late 2006 or early 2007. I beat the game, but it was painful. I did hear there were easy achievements and i thought maybe it would be a little fun. Let me correct that, this game is terrible in my opinion. Why is this game terrible?Game PlayVery frustrating. Half of the time you will be solving dumb puzzles like setting g...

Absolutely Brilliant 0

Well lets start this off being honest, Diablo II: LOD is a relatively old game. It has consumed at least 5 years of my life on and off, and is a very addicting game. But why is it so addicting? Because the amount pvp and pvm available is outstanding, as well as the long time it takes to achieve level 99. So, nearly 10 years after the release, is it still worth buying? Yes, that is if you haven't played it yet.Diablo II:LOD is the expansion to Diablo II, adding another act, two new character clas...

Rockstar Pulls It Off, Yet Again 5

Introduction Since the release of GTA III, it would be hard to believe that rockstar could go back to the classic view that was presented in 1 and 2. Well, they have done it and it is extremely successful. Going back to the old view is not taking away anything really, but adding tons of new features and making the game possible on the Nintendo DS hardware. Graphics When i say that the graphics have went back to GTA I and II style, that doesn't mean they look exactly the same, they actually loo...

The Definition of a Sequel 0

First off, I would like to note that i am a HUGE gears of war 1 fan, I almost was going to review this giving it a 4.5/5 but instead changed my mind. With that being said, lets get down to the review. For the campaign, you play as a part of delta squad, Marcus Fenix, to be exact. Anyone who is familiar with the first game will know the background info., and if you don't, i suggest you go play the first game! The story, while great, is somewhat of a mixed bag. There is great plot development, but ...

Too Human Bring's a Great Loot System / RPG To the Xbox 360 1

Too Human has been bashed and bashed on how long it has been in development , and how terrible think it is. Incase you didn't know , the game really has really only been in development on the 360, for about 3-4 years. This is still a long development process, but the question is, was it worth the wait? In my opinion, yes. In another person's opinion that has never played a hack and slash loot game such as Diablo, probably no. In my review i will break down what there is to like about Too Human a...

"Bad Company" Sets a New Standard 0

Battlefield: Bad Company sets a new standard, in my opinion. Not only does this game bring a highly enjoyable single player experience, but it also has an addicting multi-player game. Bad Company was announced back in 2006 and made by Electronic Arts. This highly anticipated game was well worth the wait, and you're about to find out why. Bad Company is also the first Battlefield game to be exclusive to consoles. Previous games have been brought to consoles from the PC. This game feels like it wa...
