Gonna be a very different Beastcast without you Dan! Best of luck and remember to visit the number 1 best podcast in the known universe from time to time.
I love you Giant Bomb crew, but I gotta say that this might have been the most boring GOTY talks from you so far. I hope to see hottest mess, "please stop" and most disappointing make a return next year. Those are the categories that make your GOTY talks unique and without them these lists just feels like they could have been done by any other website out there.
Looking back on these first quests for FFXIV made me go "Ergh, right... We had to go through that garbage."
It's really too bad they haven't done much to create a better experience for getting through the first 50 levels or so. As others have mentioned you just need to stick with it. You'll get to the good stuff soon enough.
Hope to see more FFXIV content! Like a "Jan and Rorie - Warriors of Light" show maybe. :D
I haven't seen anyone else mention this for the new FFXIV players. If you run past a blue questmarker with a plus then grab it. Those quests usually unlock something. In the beginning this is how you unlock things like the Golden Saucer, Challenge Log and Palace of the Dead for example. Later it unlocks higher level versions of bosses and dungeons as well as missions required for getting your mounts to fly in Heavensward and later expansion areas.
On another important note there is a questline involving the gentleman detective Hildebrand Manderville. That may be the best line of sidequests in the entire game and it got so popular that it is still ongoing and has several dungeons and boss fights. It starts at level 50 in Ul'Dah with the quest "The Rise and Fall of Gentlemen".
Really enjoying GBI and the marathons. Like some of the others who have commented I wouldn't mind if this was a scheduled thing instead of something we would have to fight over.
