Here we are. I went through my browser history searching for what I did.

You need to download this.

Right click. Run as admin.

Click the "..." button and navigate to steam/steamapps/common/vampire the masquerade - bloodlines/Bin/ engine.dll
Make sure the make a backup box is ticked and then press start.

Hopefully this should fix it. If the game starts you should also be able to tell if you have installed the unofficial patch correctly because it will say something in blue at the top left of the character creation screen.

Also, you will probably have to go the extras folder and use the ResPatch.exe so you can use higher resolutions.

Get back to me if this works.

You are installing unofficial patch 7.6 correct?

When I did it I installed the patch to the steam/steamapps/common/vampire the masquerade-bloodlines/    folder.

Also, I notice there is an install64 exe in the extras folder. Have you tried that?

I managed to get this game working a few weeks back but for the life of me I can't seem to remember what I did.

I think you also need to disable the automatic updates for the game on steam. You could also untick the "enable steam community in game" box.

Edit: This post is so disjointed!

Thanks ever so much for your heart-felt words and insults.

You're more than welcome. If you ever need any more heart-felt words and insults give me a shout. I would be happy to oblige.

If you'd like to reveal more about yourself - go ahead!

Of course. I was born in a small fishing village. I always wanted to join the circus but my father wouldn't really let me. My father was a cop you see and 1 week from retirement....

Those didn't seem very heart-felt or insulting. Do you regularly fail to live up to your word?

Trust me, they were very heart-felt. I'm practically bawling my eyes out into my Batman snuggie as we speak.

I just feel like pointing out that, besides the TC, everyone against the advertisement are coming off far better than the WM defenders. Yes, ads are a petty thing to complain about, but you people who feel the need to defend the staff so fiercely are making the whole place look a hell of a lot more awful than a single ad.

I entirely agree, which is why I'm not responding to the majority of the comments here.

Weird. I got the feeling you weren't responding to most of them was because they had completely debunked your stupid "Whiskey Media has broken the law" shenanigans. Even ZombiePie and Jeff explained why you still see quest related ads.

Aside from a few slightly vulgar posts which unfortunately you get everywhere on the internet I don't think the community has been overly defensive of WM. I even agree with a few points being made on the opposing side of the argument however I still feel this is a non issue that has somehow had its status catapulted up the chain. Few members I have seen have been saying "RAGH LEAVE WHISKEY MEDIA ALONE STOOPID! <3 JEFFF!".

Also, you can hardly act all mature and think you are rising up above the rest of the community when you have repeatedly called the Bomb Squad liars and the community consoletards.

Edit: Judging from your edit you are not even reading what Jeff and ZombiePie among many other users have said about the FAQ and membership terms.

Indeed. Seeing people complain about one small ad related to the community quests is quite pathetic.

Saying that just because a problem/issue isn't huge it shouldn't be discussed is the worst laziest logic.

Man, no matter how many times I read what I posted I still don't see where I said it shouldn't be discussed. I only part I see is where I said it feels kind of pathetic. I should probably get my eyes checked again.

@Jeff: Whether true or not, the different thing about this is that an outside party is giving you money and getting Ryan's time in return (and the time of whatever production staff, if any, is involved). I love Whiskey live events because it feels like dudes goofing around for the specific sake of the Whiskey community. This feels like someone has paid money to get that "magic" for their product. Again, I am more than willing to be wrong, but that is the way it strikes me.

I feel the same way. If i remember correctly one of the core reasons for having paid subscriptions was so that the content of the website would be dictated by the users and not by advertisers or sponsors. This seems to go completely against that idea.
I'm almost certain that the money Whiskey Media makes from subscribers is no way near enough to cover all the costs of the websites, staff and equipment. Ads are pretty much necessary at the moment. Sometimes you have to do things you don't want to do. Besides, Its not like the ads are changing any major content. It's one sponsored livestream that no one even seems to know is about.

I'm hesitant to use the phrase but it might just be acceptable,

"Deal with it"
