@mezza: @dukenux:

@zirilius: He's in SC6, not in Tekken. But SC has had a long history of adding in characters from other games and franchises from comics to movies.

Whoops had Tekken 7 on the brain. Title is corrected.

I'm not saying Witcher is more of a stretch than Starkiller, Yoda, Spawn, or Link but I always thought CD Projekt Red kept Witcher stuff pretty close to the vest.

This is real? This isn't a fever dream or some Witcher mutation flowing through my veins? I don't know why I'm so shocked when Noctis is in Tekken 7.

@zombiepie: I'm definitely curious what falls below Mobius at this point. I mean it has to be a side game right? There is only one main entry game that I would even think would fall below the Mobius mark and that is Final Fantasy II.

I'm also glad that I never picked up the HD remaster for the extra content. It was the only thing that may have enticed me to replay through the game but I'm so happy that I didn't as it might have ruined the series for me.

Final Fantasy XV is a weird game and one I thoroughly enjoy. The game starts out really strong and builds up some great character moments until it buckles under the weight of chapter 10 and 13. The patch fixes chapter 13 somewhat but it feels largely apparent that these parts were rushed to get the game out. Chapter 10 is much worse for me than Chapter 13 from a story stand-point though as a couple of characters take a hard turn for the worse without any context.

If there was ever a lesson in how to not do an open beta I think Tera just kind of did it.

Multiple login issues throughout the weekend. Some where planned though as they were trying to do legitimate stress tests at certain times. Performance was pretty bad all around but very noticeable in major hubs or dungeons. Server lag on both platforms was so bad at one point that you couldn't hardly even play.

I hope they learn a lot from this and it sounds like for those interested you can keep your download free for the next open beta whenever that is.

It had been awhile so I went and downloaded the PC version and my goodness does that game look substantially better even at it's base settings. I know there is a market for this but boy do I not have faith in EnMasse to get this right.

Just a quick update before I leave for the day. Servers seem mostly stable and playable at this point and Tera's twitter is turning up new servers for both consoles. Good luck this weekend.

Oof, was it meant to be an early access kind of "beta" or a come break our shit before we launch thing.

Not the kind of error messages I would like to see on the open phase of a beta though..

Doesn't appear to be a stress test but does appear that they wanted to get a larger audience in for testing. So the good is that they'll get this going but the bad is that it might sour the mood of anyone on the fence about the game.

Xbox seems to be fairing a bit better but that does require a user to have a Gold account.

Just a note to everyone that may be trying to play the open beta for consoles this weekend that the current state, especially on PS4, is bad.

Multiple Errors when trying to sign in and for those who do get it there are reports of severe server lag or constant disconnections. I haven't tried to get in since the launch time but twitter users are still reporting similar issues to the one I was receiving.

I'm was more interested in this as this might be a way for me to play the game again as it really felt like it was always designed for consoles but Bluehole and En Masse aren't giving me any faith that they can hold up their end.

The errors I was receiving looked like this.

Wait wait wait? Tidus comes back to life in the True Ending? I thought he just appeared for just a moment and then returned back to being dead? I honestly hate that and agree that the normal ending should be the canon ending. My memory of this game is absolutely garbage and I probably purged it from my conscious on purpose.

In regards to your question on puzzles in a Final Fantasy game; no there has never been a good puzzle in any of their games. Mystic Quest has a couple of interesting puzzles but that's not a numbered game and probably shouldn't count.

This is a debatable topic but I think the only good "sequel(s)" that Square has ever put out were Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy XIII-2. I say Sequel because Crisis Core is an actual prequel but is the only game that makes the world of Final Fantasy VII even remotely bearable to me. XIII-2 does a good of taking what I thought was a pretty fantastic ending to XIII, a game which I hold in higher regard than most, and just going for it. It's the one of only a handful of games I have put the time into getting a Platinum trophy for. Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII is some hot garbage, Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings is not a good tactics and barely has any of what makes XII amazing in my book, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is a story mess and barely makes any sense despite the combat being amazing. I've yet to play Final Fantasy IV: The After Years but I've heard marginally good things about that.

I'm curious where you think this rates in your rankings of Final Fantasies so I look forward to that Deep Listens on it. I mean it's got to be just slightly above Mobius right?

"The Cell Saga Is Not Number One"

HERESY

The Cell Saga is indeed not number one as a whole but it does have quite possibly my favorite moment when Gohan goes SSJ2 and starts kicking the ever living shit out of Cell. The lead up to the Gohan fight with 16,17, and 18 and the early tournament are mediocre compared to the Frieza saga.

The only reason I like the Buu Saga at all is the fight between Maijin Vegeta and Goku.

Dragon Ball's biggest problem is that with the exception of a select few fights they always need Goku to save the day. This persists heavily into Dragon Ball Super as well. With all the strong characters this show has I just wish they'd let Vegeta just save the day just once. I mean Gohan gets his, Trunks his, but Vegeta is just left in the backseat.
