What games that are already announced do you think will be on next gen consoles? my best guesses are star wars 1313, rainbow six patriots and dragon age 3 maybe prey 2 but who knows what is happening with that game haven't heard anything on it since 2 years ago at E3 when it was first revealed.
With the Wii U out, the PS4 about to be announced in a week and the next Xbox not far away the next generation of home consoles is upon us and I would just look back at what were the mistakes and accomplishes of each first party. Starting with Sony obviously launch was a big mess with a ridiculous price point, shortages and missing features but then stuff straightened out(price drops and better games) some stumbles here and there (dropping backwards compatibility the PSN hacking) but maintaining a consistent lineup of exclusives and innovation kept them in the competition even though marketing was not up to the task of promoting these games.
Microsoft in a very smart move launched first even though it had the red ring problem around it but with a redesign they changed that, another accomplishment was the transformation of Xbox live into a legit entertainment hub something Sony couldn't really compete with the PSN. A big mistake(IMO) was abandoning interest in releasing exclusives and just depending on the pillars of GoW, Halo, Fable and Forza but an accomplishment was investing more in innovative XBLA titles.
Nintendo really didn't have many mistakes outside of the gimmick getting old, they played their cards right betting on a casual market that the other 2 couldn't have anticipated but it also alienated some third parties.
Mistakes on both Sony and Microsoft would be trying to get in the casual market with Move and Kinect and not including HDMI cables.
What did you think were the mistakes and accomplishments by the big 3?
That would be awesome and hopefully will happen but when does this console cycle end or are we just going to have to buy accessory after accessory until we have another gaming crash... I mean the 3DS and the NGP are already announced but the home console market just looks stuck in this generation because of the casual game revolution and I feel like it is only going to make video games like the whole Wii game market. Boring and for kids with little for the hardcore ...
Don't you think it's weird how at the beginning of this generation Sony wanted the PS3 to last 10 years and now if it weren't for the Wii(which nobody expected would last the time it has) the casual gaming revolution wouldn't have happened but now because of Nintendo, the PS3 and the Xbox 360 became casual friendly making they're store shelf life longer and actually making Sony's wish a reality but putting them in last place. I think we are now in a weird spot where games can't become onlive because not everybody has internet but a new console generation cannot exist because the casual gaming revolution has made the console life cycle much longer. What does everybody else think?
Financially speaking Activision is easily the best ,from WoW account payments and anualizable(sigh I don't know how to spell a fake word) franchises. But as far as quality I think EA is up there between the great games from the partners program and inhouse stuff like Battlefield. Then there's Capcom with they're retro releases on XBLA and PSN and they're games like Lost Planet 2 and Dead rising 2 but they defineatly have some stinkers(Dark Void). Another good publisher is Ubisoft with games like Splinter Cell Conviction and Assassin's Creed 2 but of course they have some stinkers(Shaun White Snowboarding). So in your opinion who is the best publisher?
