@teo22: I agree with your statement. I have mixed feeling about the video review. I understand why written reviews don't get as much page views for ad revenue as they would like. I get that Giant Bomb dot com as a video game website is trying to keep up with current trends and meet the needs of their audience. I like to read sometimes so that my brain doesn't turn to mush.

My first impression of the video review was that it felt like a discussion they already had on the bombcast. One person doing the majority of the talking and verbally describing the game without visuals was boring. Hopefully they will make adjustments. More than anything the video review is a reflection of the times. Everything has to be rushed, easy and cheap. What I find more disappointing is the decline in education standards and literacy. Reading is not a bad thing.

I would not say that I was, "voting with my dollar. I stopped buying games at GameStop because I found the employees being more annoying at checkout. Aside from the up-selling crap I did not need. I have not read Game Informer in a while or visited their website. The pre-order bonuses were not worthwhile for me anymore.

I end up buying physical copies of games at Target. I'll use my employee discount and my Red Card to get 5% off. The Cartwheel function on their app has games, console and accessories on sale periodically. Pre-order games from Target will come with a $5 gift card. Target will put games on clearance and have a value section of older games for twenty dollars.

Any games I can't find at Target. I will buy them off Amazon. I will buy digital games on PSN during their winter and spring sales. Only if it is cheaper than Amazon.

As far as publishers. The first one is Konami. After MGSV and Kojima's depature. I swore I will never buy another game from them. If Konami released a better HD collection of the Silent Hill games, I might reconsider. The second one is Bethesda. Lately their business practices of selling their games is getting gross. I don't like that they are using YouTube influencers to circumvent the games press to avoid negative reviews. The most infuriating part as the more that publisher has grown. They seem content on putting out buggy games. Finishing all Fallout 4 has burned me out and I not interested in playing Fallout 76.

Brutal Legend help introduce me the extended tree of rock music. I didn't know that there were so many sub-genres of Heavy Metal music like: Thrash, Death Metal, Industrial, Viking, Black metal and the ubiquitous Glam Rock. Brutal Legend got me to listen to Motorhead, Megadeth, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Girlschool, Motley Crew, Ministry, Ozzy Osbourne, KMFDM, Enslaved, Mastodon and Rob Zombie.

GTA Vice City gave me an appreciation for 80s music. I like that Rockstar did not picked cliche songs associated with that era.

  • Blondie: Atomic
  • The Psychedelic Furs: Love My Way
  • Jan Hammer: Crockett's Theme
  • Michael Jackson: Billie Jean
  • Laura Branigan: Self Control (My favorite)
  • Hashim: Al-Naafiysh (The Soul)
  • Frankie Goes to Hollywood: Two Tribes
  • Irakere: Aguanile

Burnout Paradise had songs that stuck with me and have enjoyed while I was driving.

  • Us vs. Them: LCD Soundsystem
  • Stand and Deliver: Adam and the Ants
  • Rusty Cage: Soundgarden
  • Cities in dust: Junkie XL featuring Lauren Rocket

Other games that had good soundtracks with licensed music is GTA; San Andreas, GTA V, Saints Row The Third. Silent Hill 2 is my favorite soundtrack of original music. My last game is Metal Gear Solid V The Phantim Pain. It has a great balance of licensed and original music by Ludvig Forssell.

  • a-ha: Take On Me
  • Billy Idol: Rebel Yell
  • Dead or Alive: You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)
  • Europe: The Final Countdown

My favorite song from MGSV.

Ocelot says, "Can't you even die right?" in MGS 1. The line gets repeated in Zone of the Enders: Second Runner when Nohman destroys Lloyd.

One memory is Dan's egg white story. The other is when Ryan suggested for a Sony E3 presentation that Jack Tretton murder Kevin Butler on stage. Third is Will Smith having trouble pronouncing executable. Fourth is Ryan talking about The Domo-Kun takeover.

I watched Robocop until I was older. The guy in the toxic waste really got to me more than all the gross violent stuff like the neck stabbing. What freaked me out the most was a guy getting his chest cut opened in Robocop 2.

One day on two different occasions because of an injury in gym class. In fifth grade I had a broken collar bone playing basketball. Freshman year in high school I sprained my ankle rollerskating. One day school was cancelled because of an ice storm. We still had to make that day up.

Freshman year in college I got into a bad habit of skipping class. I don't remember how many consecutive days I missed. I used up all my allowed absences. I fell behind and flunked a couple of classes doing that. I learned my lesson the hard way that having a low GPA does not help get approval for financial aid.
