Thanks Alex and Vinny, watching you play through the whole trilogy has been great entertainment!
I still felt pangs of disappointment at the ending. For me the problem stems from the reaper backstory about inevitable conflict between organics and synthetics being contradictory to many other events in the game and series. They needed a solid justification for their stance for there to be any satisfactory pay-off to the main plot. (Slightly controversial opinion: I think the Leviathan DLC was bad because it didn't provide this.)
Every time the camera feed skips or pauses it makes me feel super queasy. The way the rendered AR elements drift around the physical space probably doesn't help either.
That said, having the ground level perspective where everything seems huge is really cool.
It's probably more the fault of the voice director, but occasionally Hale has really jarring delivery. For example in the bar scene I linked she gives a sort of plucky read of the "Still going through it" line which completely clashes with the sardonic, weary tone of the interaction. Or earlier in the DLC after capturing Brooks there was that "Maya, I know that voice" line which nonplussed Alex. It's intention was having Shepard call out Brooks for trying to slip back into her innocent persona but Hale read it like she was having a revelation, which made no sense.
Still, most of her performance is excellent, not least throughout this episode!
This video nicely displays the amazing gameplay variety that SM3DW can throw at you in a short space of time. For me the collectables often ruin the pacing though, forcing (or at least heavily incentivising) you to repeat sections you've just done when you'd rather keep moving forwards.
@lesliemagnafuzz: I also heard Leviathan was essential but to me it felt like a waste of money. Any significant bits of backstory were told (or at least could be inferred) with From Ashes. Though that may depend on having a certain character with you at the right times.
It put me off from buying any of the other DLC which was a shame because when I eventually watched someone play Citadel on youtube that turned out to look really fun.
