The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for me. I played through to the Baron questline, but I really could not get passed the combat in Witcher 3; I found it like pushing a brick through mud. So I ended up putting it down. After about a year I forced myself to get through it to experience everything else about The Witcher, and I was not disappointed.

I decided my list based on games played as opposed to what was released. And while I did play more than five games that were released this year, they did not make the list. My brief thoughts on these games are here.
