I love MMO's. I've played entirely too much of WoW, and I'm still occasionally playing SWTOR.
I just wish that they didn't all copy WoW (replace the word "WoW" with "Everquest", if you'd rather). The idea that MMO's all need to be the same kind of hotkey action is just frustrating. It's like, since CoD had successful multiplayer, obviously the only kind of game which can have multiplayer is a first person shooter, right? No. Wrong. WoW was successful because it was a good game, which happened to be an MMO. There's nothing intrinsically wrong with the hotkey MMO, but because WoW was successful, it's the only kind of MMO which gets made anymore.
Yes, there are exceptions (EVE Online, Planetside, Dungeons and Dragons Online, just to name a few) but overall the vast majority of MMO's are one specific kind of MMO. I'd love to see some more MMOFPS's, for example, or MMORPG's with a different kind of combat than that specific hotkey variety. But you'd have to figure out new ways to engage the player, to keep the player coming back, and to balance the game, and that's a lot more work than just doing what WoW did.
