Overview
Propeller Arena was a multiplayer aerial combat game that was developed and completed by Sega AM2 studios for the Dreamcast. It was canceled two days after the September 11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and The Pentagon. Sega stated that the game replicated images far too similar to the very recent attacks (planes flying close to skyscrapers, exploding, etc.), which was likely to appear tasteless to many Americans.
The game would have taken place in 2045, during a competition in which pilots fly World War II-era planes fitted with modern weaponry and attempt to shoot each other down. It featured large multiplayer maps with a maximum of 6 characters. It was at one point described as "Quake in the Skies".
