From what i know of the game i cant tell if the main dude is trying to save everyone or just take advantage of the chaos. Theres probely going to be moral choice in the game so you can decide but still. What do you think?
I mean the soldiers who are killing the infected and survivors certainly arent good. But still, they are trying to just stop the spread of the virus that apparently has killed alot of people.

Prototype is an open-world action game from Radical Entertainment. You are Alex Mercer, a human transformed by a deadly virus into a virtually invincible killing machine.
Is the "Prototype" a good guy or bad guy?
He is what you want him to be.
I believe in relation to the story the character, Alex Mercer, has amnesia and was somehow infected or infused with whatever virus is infecting New York and it would appear he is out for revenge and looking for answers from whoever did it to him. So my guess is he is simply defined as an anti-hero.
Not quite the spandex sporting superhero we are all used too. But not quite the evil mastermind either. Simply looking out for himself and doing what he can for people provided it benefits himself in the process.
He's an anti-hero. Good and bad are perspectives; the concept of "moral choices" is implemented so the player can decide what is right, or wrong. The Infected are taking over Manhattan, threatening the safety of the city's residents, not to mention man-kind. Does that excuse BLACKWATCH from killing innocents? Is containment the highest priority or maintaining one's moral integrity? Is it justifiable to kill 6 million in order to save 6 billion? That's up for debate; it's all a matter of perspective.
"He's whateeeeeever you maaaaaaake him."
ya but from what ive seen it seems like his personality is already on the dark side or close to it, will this be like Fable or whatever where all of your decisions have negative effects in some way? he says "Im called a terrorist, killer, murderer, animal, i'm all of these things" he seems sorta dark......
You are just a guy who is protecting himself, it isn't like you are killing innocent civilians (which you can do) but mainly it's just you defending yourself IMO.
You are evil. You have a complete disregard for civilian life (your finishing attacks kill everyone in the area, innocent and infected alike) and your primary goal is revenge. You aren't out to hurt innocents on purpose but you are more than willing to use them as fodder and tools to meet your desires. Frankly I find it refreshing to play a game that doesn't have moral choices, your character isn't a villain, a hero or an anti-hero, you are a mass murderer out to kill potential other mass murderers, and anyone else in your way.
He's out to find out what happened to him. His mentality seems to be something along the lines of "fuck everyone else"....
His abilities remind me of Marvel comics supervillain Carnage, although Mercer seems to be some sort of anti-hero.
I don't really care if Mercer is some sort bad guy or not, as long as I get to beat /slice/maim some goons real good .
There are NO MORAL CHOICES!
There is only one ending and it's the same no matter what. Check out the official prototype forum for more.
While you can do missions that end with either infected or military bases destroyed for a limited time, you cannot influence what happens at the end of the game.
This IS NOT an RPG. Infamous has moral choices Prototype DOE NOT
To me he seems like a bad guy, hell you'd be a bad guy to if you went around killing everyone! sheesh! lol
All of the mission objectives I have seen so far do not really paint Alex as the bad guy. The choice is up to the player to consume innocent civilians right?
He's basically apathetic. He just wants to get the job done regardless of who gets in his path. Unfortunately, those people are mostly cops and civilians.
he's just a reason for you to play a videogame where you can run up and down building blowing shit up. any other details are totally irrelevant. seriously, the game doesn't even tell you why its titled Prototype.
I think the devs or whoever comes up with the story has been quite clever, okay its not the best or most original story but i think Alex is a good guy, i think he is desperate to find out who did this to him and what is happening to him and to stop it from spreading, however as he is so desperate he harms innocent people out of sheer fear and desperation, i think in the second game if there is one, he will resent what he has done in killing people and try to become the cities hero......I HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE GAME...... so no spoilers, that's just my opinion!

It doesn't have to... there isn't anyone else in the game like mercer is there? I think the title is self-explanatory.
Also like the way he dresses, he isn't good or bad, just stays in the grey area.

The collar popped under a fucking sweatshirt is retarded. And the jacket is kind of gay itself. I think I liked it better back in the old screens when he had a vest and sweatshirt. There was one where they were all camo pattern but one where he had a white sweatshirt. Here's a screen of that:
Look at those Hunters too. Wow I didn't really realize the game's style changed that much. I like this prerelease stuff better I think.
"Yeah for sure. It seems like it was a bit more stylized and looks cleaner in those old screens. Anyways, I don't mind the graphics too much because there are some cool little touches I really like, like the lighting when you get in infected areas and the way those areas feel in general with the chaos on the streets, and there's also always a shitload of action going on. You have to make some conceits graphically.@Stephen_Von_Cloud:
Me too... but i still like the game, even if he isn't a pop icon, he is pretty cool as the game is in my opinion.
Great pictures by the way :)

Anyways the style is still pretty good, but I think it could have been better. That kind of thing can really make me like a game that much more (probably what happened with Crackdown and will be with Borderlands too)
You know alex is not such a badguy if u look at it... in the cutscenes have u seen him kill any civilians??? When ur playing as alex in the game of course u r gonna kill ppl but... alex doesnt really do that, he just wants revenge on black watch for fucking his life up and turning him into a killing machine
I'd agree with the people who call him an anti-hero. However, I find his revenge desires to be odd. If that happened to me I'd find the guy who did it and think him, who doesn't want to be able to shapeshift at will and have massive deadly claws? Sure there are all the people trying to kill me but, after slicing hundreds in half, taking out some tanks with the good ol'hammer fists and tossing cars at helicopters, they might think differently.
