Alex's primary superpower is his ability to shapeshift, changing his form to suit his needs. Going hand in hand with this power is his ability to "consume" others, absorbing them entirely. This process allows Alex to quickly regain health by absorbing the biomass of his enemies. This also allows him to take on the forms of the enemies he absorbs, thereby allowing the player to move about the enemy as one of them. The disguise will only last as long as Alex remains inconspicuous. Alex has ...

    Worth playing. 0

It's worth a rent don't know if its worth buying though. I went though the main story in about 10h most of that time was spend traveling from one side of the city to the other since they seem to like dropping you on the opposite side of the city from the next mission.Unless you really liked the story there is really no incentive to go through the game again unless your going for trophies/achievements. It has no choices or any thing in it its just a point A to B story. And I didn't find the gamep...

Save your ass, save the world and eat your neighbour. 0

It can't be easy to be a chased superhero with no memory, in a New York ruined by a virus mutating people into monsters. Luckilly for Alex Mercer, he's a little bit more lucky. He might've lost his memory, and he might've gotten the virus, but in difference to all other New Yorkers he got superpowers. With his extraordinary strength, he can change into the shape of whoever he eats, and as he is super heavy as well, he got no problems destroying tanks with single jumps. He can grow weapons out of ...

Prototype is like Crackdown meets The Darkness meets Hulk: UD 0

Prototype mashes the exploring elements of Crackdown, the dark creepiness and overall graphical feel of The Darkness, and the chaotic over the top battles of Hulk: Ultimate Destruction together into a nice mixture to create a wildly entertaining piece of software.  As much as I liked Infamous for how polished it was and had a good story, Prototype is better because the combat is more engaging with more options and the locomotion (movement) feels better.Prototype is such a great pick up to play f...

The story of a complete jerk 0

With all the free-roaming games that have been released in such a short period of time it seems like Prototype is the title with the least amount of hype between Infamous and Red Faction. At first glance Prototype seems very similar to many other super powered free-roaming games. In the end it proves itself to be very different in terms of gameplay, story. In Prototype you are Alex Mercer, a super powered freak of nature with amnesia. In many events, you wander the streets consuming other indiv...

A Few Nicks in a Very Polished Game 0

Ever wanted to know what it was like to be public enemy number one? Except that the people don't really hate you, and you can kill whoever decides to stand up against you? Then I can safely say that Prototype is the game for you. While it doesn't quite excel in everything, Prototype delivers where it counts the most: pure entertaining destruction. With that said, you can be assured that Prototype is mainly about endless carnage. Because of that, however, the plot is sadly lacking. In the game yo...

    Massively Fun !!!!! 0

look beyond the sometimes iffy visual quality (especially any cut-scenes with a certain sister; those eyes are so dead, she must be infected too), and you'll find a game that truly gives you the visceral experience of being a super-powered being. Most of the MARVEL characters that have made it to the big screen in the past couple of years are represented by proxy here: Spider-man (Black costume version), Hulk, Wolverine, even the Punisher makes an appearance here. Though the best ability is what...

Prototype of a great game. 0

Prototype is game some people will love and some people will hate it all depends on the reason you are playing the game. If your are playing Prototype for an orginal story and and ground breaking gameplay i'll save you some time and tell you its a rent. If you looking to play prototype because you love the idea of cruisng around a sandbox nyc with a kickass super hero who combines some well known superpowers with his own unique twist to them to cause want and destruction you came to the right ga...

    Arcade Fun, Arcade Depth 1

Prototype begins with an opening cutscene, then thrusts you headfirst into the world with all your powers. It seems like a transition from movie-to-game.. but it is a different time of day and different location in each scene. This is a pretty good indicator of what will let you down during general gameplay in Prototype, strange inconsistencies and a lack of detail. The game is at times one of the most  fun and furious "arcadey" experiences I have had in a while, but as soon as the action slows ...

A Fun Action Title That Will Keep You Entertained 0

Prototype is a solid game marred by a few flaws that could have been mostly avoided if Radical took a bit more time to polish the dull parts. Action heavy game play that rarely gives the player a break, entertaining movement, and a well implemented upgrade system keep this title from getting old too fast. Repetition sets in after about 15 to 20 hours of game play and only the most die hard completionist will go to the lengths of grabbing all those damn orbs strewn all over the place as well as a...

    Oraganic Destruction 0

First things first: Prototype and InFamous are completely different games. On the surface they look similar, and sure they both came out around the same time leading to many, many arguments on forum boards over which one is better; but I’m here to preach the truth and tell you that they couldn’t be further apart in terms of gameplay mechanics, powers, visuals and so forth. InFamous focuses more on shooting - with long-range lightning zaps - and great platforming mechanics, whereas Prototype is m...

Fairness and a potential squandered 1

Alex Mercer wakes up in a morgue, not even able blink before men with automatic weapons begin shooting and hunting him. As far as I knows a virus have been released in New York, himself at the epicenter, granted super natural powers. Seeking his sister he begins a quest to understand, to remember who he was, his role then and now. Sounds good, huh? The mechanics of the game consists of a insane mix of different types and pacing: super power combat, gun play, stealth (not unlike Hitman), vehicle...

Prototype In every sense of the word. 0

Radical Entertainments last open world outing with The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction was quite a fun deviation from your normal open world experiences. Prototype is no different. In fact it’s pretty much the same game with a fresh coat of paint and original storyline. With its shotgun approach to game design, Prototype tries to do a lot of different things and strikes home with a few, but mildly fails in others. Nevertheless, Prototype does enough right to keep fans of over the top, acti...

Kicks all amounts of @$$ 0

This game is completely insane. If you enjoy just making complete mayhem and killing everything in sight then this is the game for you. There are way too many powers for anyone to be able to use or remember to use, but this is not a bad thing.  There are so many ways to destroy and massacre anything in your way that you wont be able to do it through there first play through. The only fault with the game that I found was that it could get to hectic at times. there could be helicopter, infected, a...

This game probably consumed the other super-hero games 0

Anyone who played Marvel's several movie tie-ins (Spiderman 2 and Spiderman 3) and its comic based games (The Ultimate Spiderman, The Incredible Hulk and Spiderman Web of Shadows) will instantly see that Prototype has several similarities in terms of gameplay with them. It is a superhero game which puts you in a virus infected Manhattan (which happens to be the setting for those games as well) and lets you roam freely in it. But Prototype has some stand-out features that makes it a great experie...

Consume To Find The Truth 0

Like many Videogame Characters, Alex Mercer has suffered memory loss. Bad-ass powers help that problem fortunately PROTOTYPE, after a few delays, has finally arrived this summer, and offers some open-world and super powered action to enjoy. Although it shares a few similarities with inFamous, this game is mostly different, and much more violent, and unfortunately, very frustrating at times. Let's start with the many positives that Prototype has going for it. The story, for instance, is pretty w...

Part vampire, part hulk, all frantic 0

Since the character of Frankenstein, scientific tinkering unleashing a dangerous superhuman into the world has stirred a frightening idea. To amnesiac Alex Mercer, this doesn’t exactly frighten him, though it does frenzy him through the streets of Manhattan on a quest for discovery. Ironically, Alex uses his ruthless arsenal of comic-book style abilities to find out who changed him into a shape-shifting super human. And along the way, he and a few companions try to piece together how a virus has...

    Fun, while it lasts 0

Enjoyed the article? Follow me on Twitter!  If you’re familiar with open-world games, then much of what you already expect is utilized in Prototype. However, the way Radical Entertainment has crafted the game allows it to take detours we haven’t seen; making it the anomalous figure of the open world-genre.   That... that's high. Prototype is unsurprisingly your typical cliché action story, but if you’re playing Prototype for the story, then you’ve come to the wrong place. For wha...
