    Overview

Quincey Morris is a character in Bram Stoker's novel Dracula. He is an American from Texas and friend of Englishmen Dr. John Seward and Arthur Holmwood. Like his friends, Morris asks Lucy Westenra for her hand in marriage, but she turns him and Dr. Seward down in favor of Holmwood. Regardless, he remains good friends with all of them, and he assists them and Jonathan Harker in ultimately hunting down Count Dracula. At the end of the book, Morris and Harker work together to destroy the vampire. However, Morris is mortally wounded during the fight and dies shortly thereafter.

    Connection to Castlevania

Though Quincey Morris does not actually appear in any of the games in the Castlevania series, Castlevania: Bloodlines features the character John Morris, an original creation of the game's designers. John is Quincey's son, meant as a means to tie the events of the Castlevania timeline to the continuity of Bram Stoker's novel. It is also established in this game that Quincey is descended from the Belmont Clan, the family of vampire hunters dedicated to the defeat of Dracula. As such, the whip Vampire Killer came to be possessed by Quincey, and was eventually passed down to John. Quincey's grandson, Jonathan Morris, would later wield the Vampire Killer in Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin.
