Released for the PlayStation at the end of 1998, Ridge Racer Type 4 is the fourth console entry of Namco's arcade racing series. Aside from being a further improvement from the already impressive Rage Racer, R4 also contains highly detailed conversations with various racing teams, a concept that would be taken to the next level with the later spinoff R: Racing Evolution.

    Dear classic arcade-style racing fans

Not long ago, when I was browsing through Traxion.GG's news articles, I just stumbled across and realized that, so here are my short thoughts:

This makes me wish to see Ridge Racer 8 be developed and released for the PC, PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/S, it's about 17 years after the launch of Ridge Racer 7 for the PS3. Currently, there are no words from Bandai Namco Entertainment (The publisher) about this racing series' status on whether is still continuing or not.

For the arcades, the last game being released was Ridge Racer V: Arcade Battle, and then it gets replaced by the Wangan Midnight series, starting from Wangan Midnight R then followed by the Maximum Tune series.

The last Bandai Namco Entertainment's published game to have a Ridge Racer reference that I've known is Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, which has a car called Terrazi Gaia, being advertised on the game's virtual billboards.

Sidenote: I'm not a big fan of arcade-style racing games these days, but I just feel like sharing this article for the fans of this series and I'm not really into the PS Plus Premium & Xbox Game Pass as well.
