Solid, if not groundbreaking.
Let's get this out of the way. Recore doesn't re-invent the wheel. Its load times are often too long, it's familiar as far as third person open world games go, and visually it has noticeable pop-in and less than high res textures.
That said, it may still be well worth your time.
Recore is an incredibly charming game, with a likable if small cast of characters, a delightful aesthetic, solid gameplay, and a steady pace. It had the misfortune of being a pretty good game in a year of outstanding games, and as a result was easily overlooked. However, you would be well advised to duck back and give it a second look, especially as it is frequently available on the cheap, and even at its regular price it's a bargain.
A hidden gem, lost amid a sea of high profile diamonds. Well worth giving a go.
