Red Faction Armageddon is officially announced, and here is the first trailer.Still third person, but it seems they are going for a darker, almost horror style this time. Almost seems that the open world nature is gone. I dunno, I have Dead Space for my "monsters in outer space" fix, but I guess time will tell on this one.

Looks a little inspired by doom...although that could be due to me playing alot of doom 2 recently.

That was not what I expected.  At All.  As long as I can blow everything up good it should be fine, though that may take away from the horror aspect, so I'm a little worried about how they're gonna approach that.

I don't know how I feel about this. Red Faction Guerilla is one of my favorite sandbox games, but the horror genre in games has always been a turnoff for me. Oh well, I'll just have to wait and see how it turns out.

Wow. Everyone said, "WTF?" when RF:Guerilla was announced as a a 3rd person open world game instead of a corridor FPS. Now people are whining about a game going back to it's roots only with a twist. I am looking forward to this title.

It's not whining. The only thing people around here are concerned about is blowing shit up, and it's basically the only reason why we all care about the series. Hell, this could be a point 'n' click adventure game, as long as I can punch a hole in a wall with a mech.

So to me looks like the EDF probably bombard the planet forcing the Red Faction to go underground into the mines their ancestors built right? so I guess the mutants or whatever are actually the race of mutated humans from the first Red Faction. whatca think?

Mines? Underground? Underground mines? Do my eyes deceive me? Fuck yes. That's pretty much exactly what I wanted. So it's a third person shooter, set in the Ultor mines from the first Red Faction, with a slight horror element? That sounds so much better than "So it's kinda like GTA but you can blow things up. Neat, eh?"

I'd still cry tears of joy for a Red Faction (1) remake, but alas, who am I kidding with that dream.

Whoa that's an - interesting direction to take from guerilla, guess this is at least an interesting way to go!

Also did he say mines our ancestors built? - as in the mines from the original RF?!

@Hitchenson: Good - as long as there's no missions in this game based on masquerading as a civilian scientist then im happy - though by the look of aliens and dead space atmosphere, i dont think thatll be the case!!

"Remember that game that you all (mostly) enjoyed? It's back! Although this time there is less of the fun stuff! Liked destroying buildings? FUCK YOU! Liked fighting for the people, as one of the people? FUCK YOU ALSO! Also this time there are aliens! Goddamnit!"

I quite enjoyed Red Faction, was nonplussed about RF2 and was pleasantly surprised by RF:G. If I were one for following trends, I might say that it stands to reason that I would be disappointed by the next game in the series.

Looks a little too close to the style of Dead Space to me. But hey, as much as it's probably not gonna happen, maybe it can retain that destruction factor and we can cave people in??

Aliens? Aww hell, i didn't see THAT coming.

But hey, if it's set in the mines of RF1, tha'ts enough for me.

Which reminds me, i have to get Guerilla sometime...
