i apologize if this has already been posted. if so, please lock away.

i'm pretty excited for this. tonight on Gametrailers TV (on spike.. forgot what time it's on at. i think midnight EST) they'll be revealing the new red faction game!

i'm pretty excited for this. the story in Red Faction:Guerrilla wasn't much, but i'm always happy to see a new Red Faction game.

    SOURCE

are you looking forward to the new RF game?

edit: just saw it. looks pretty great. it looked kind of horror-y but it looks cool since RF is going underground again.

will we finally get the Reconstructor in single player?! please?! it appears so!!

There's gonna be a new Red Faction game, but I don't know if that's its name.

I'd so much rather it be set during the uprising against Ultor like the first game, alas, I imagine it's going to be Red Faction: Guerilla 2 effectively. Not that that's a bad thing, it's just not what I want really.

EDIT: Do my eyes deceive me after reading your Destructoid link?   "goes back to the old Red Faction because about 80% of it is underground

    Oh, now I'm interested.

this story has been reported by multiple sources using the same name. it appears to be subtitled Armageedon. i'm also not surprised considering how cheesy of a subtitle that is.

haha so am i. Red Faction was pretty amazing.

@natetodamax: they said they're further utilizing Geo Mod 2.0. (according to the wiki page, anyway) so we should see some amazing stuff.

@Hitchenson: Hell yes. That would be awesome. Maybe the whole environment will be destructible for once. It's always been the terrain, as in the first game, or the buildings, like in Guerrilla. I would love to do both for a change. And maybe they'll get a decent story going this time (not going to happen, I know).

@FunExplosions: To be honest, I'd be happy if they just remade the original Red Faction with their existing tech. That's never going to happen though, so I'd best not get myself excited over nothing.

@AjayRaz:  No I haven't. I forget why I stopped playing but at some point before going back to play it I decided I would be better do my own Red Faction endurance run of sorts and do all three back to back. To that end I piled up all the games ready to do that but as yet I have failed to do so. This plan was put into effect many months ago now.

I remember driving off a cliff in RF:G, and my vehicle crashing through the top of a building. The front of the vehicle was poking into the first floor, the majority of it on the second floor, and the ass end of it sticking out of the building's roof.

I wasn't crazy about the Red Faction: Guerrilla demo. The building fell apart waaaaaay to easily. C'mon, you can hammer a building down? Are they made of toothpicks or something?

Hammers vs Toothpicks isn't an accurate description of the game's physics.

Oh shit, GTTV is starting now (well, it's Commercial right now, but in a few minutes).

I hope they let you save with cheats ala Saint's Row 2. That utterly destroyed RF:G replayability for me. I beat the game twice, but after that I just lost interest. If I could blow shit up constantly and forever while continuing the plot, I'd probably still be playing.

Anywho, time to wait out the commercials.

Edit: Dude, aliens. Also looked like he had some kinda wrist-constructor thing he was using to make a bridge.

I'm still most curious about the wrist thing. It glowed blue and looked like it made a bridge thing while he was running over it. It'd be awesome if you could rebuild stuff forever, then destroy it again.

have you played Red Faction Guerrilla?

if not, In the multi player mode, there was a weapon called the Reconstructor. you could rebuild buildings, structures, and anything that existed on the map that you blew up. it was used for two awesome game modes, but it was a fun weapon to use when you blew stuff up with friends.

it wasn't in the single player, but it appears it will be this time.

A forum says this is going back to an FPS, which would be highly disappointing to me.  Can anyone confirm or deny this?  Or is it rampant speculation?  I believe the "80% back to the roots" comment was just focused on it being underground.

Jetpacks and jumping around ruins was a lot more fun in the third person, dammit.

it's going to be third. on an interview they said the game would have more of a third person shooter narrative

I went to the site in the trailer (Gobeneath.com), and here's what it said about the wrist thing.

    Nano Forge:
" A family heirloom with a storied history, the Nano Forge has been passed down from one Mason to the next with one purpose: To keep the planet safe.
Now in possession of Darius, the Forge's nanotechnology has evolved to give its user a range of abilities that could only be described as "super-human."

Repair is the first abiity, and it "fires a swarm of of nanites that attach to man-made material and reconstruct the damaged portions.  Within seconds, it's good as new."  So it seems like you'll get your wish.  If I could blow up that giant bridge in the first game over and over, I'd be a happy camper.

@csl316:  Oh damn, they turned the Nano Forge into a wrist thing? Awesome. Though I hope you can still atomize enemies and vehicles like you could with the awesomeness that was the Nano Rifle. That was my favorite weapon, hope it still retains killing abilities.
