Oh yeah, of course you do, it's right there on the cover.

nah, I don't make a habit of remembering pancake booty.
I wouldn't read into it too far, but the booty shot was probably a marketing thing that unconsciously attracts peripheral vision on shelves to increase sales. Same thing if they showed the front, and she happened to have mad cleavage. They know their audience is primarily 18-35 male, and they tailor their covers accordingly.
Edit: I know the knee-jerk reaction will to be to call this "nothing" but if were being reasonable its not. Its not a huge thing either, but obviously if the game is character heavy then the selling point on the cover being hot-ass devalues that to a certain extent.
How old is the girl on the cover? From what I've seen of the commercials, she looks twelve.
Wait, I'm thinking of a completely different game (maybe The Last of Us?). Not sure if this is sexist or just lazy box art design.
There really is no appeasing you people is there. Short of every female character being wrapped in a burka and being an unattractive overweight old lady you will always find something to scream about a female character being portrayed in a sexist way. It's a 3rd person action game. Are you going to complain next that the only reason they made it 3rd person was so people could stare at her ass the entire game too?

You're totally right. OP's stance is unreasonable.
Clearly the answer is for Remember Me chick to be twerkin' on the cover. Make it holographic foil for the full effect.
And if she was turned the other way it would be remember my tits?
Very strange logic.

Granted, this is not the case. But the more you know.
She must be related to Nathan Drake.
At least Nathan had the tact to hide his ass with SKULLFOLIAGE.
Edit: Ever wonder what the ass of a ghoul looks like?

SKULLFOLIAGE might just be my favorite new word.

One day I need to learn how music works, so I can use all the great band names I get from this website.
Hahaha, I think I might be being misinterpreted here. I think all this sexism talk going on lately might be getting in my head. I truly believe its okay to engage sexual hooks as a marketing tool or even selling point depending on your content. I think my eyes were just immediately drawn there due to my being a heterosexual male and the rule of thirds. It seemed to engage that part of my brain so immediately that I thought it was humorous and wanted to share.

Reminds me of the terrible cover on my copy of BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger. I think it was the winner of some fanart competition or something, which makes me dislike it even more.
Kind of doesn't make any anatomical sense...

OMG why hasn't this happened yet. I would buy that game like, 10 times just to put it on my shelf.

Art making 'anatomical sense' is a tired argument. Art doesn't have to be realistic. That's the beauty of art. Just as to be appealing. I quite like that cover actually.
As for the Remember Me cover art....uhhh....yeah, women have butts. I don't find it sexualizing at all to me personally though.
Yep, I remember this.
@damodar: she must be one of dem quadruple jointed ladies or something
@kidable: Sure, but there is creative subversion of realism and then there's being Rob Liefeld. You can put too much faith in the artistic intent behind generic anime girl with guns and in this case, I think the snapped spine is just a result of a lack of understanding or ability.
@damodar: That is catastrophically awful. Is there an alternate cover on the reverse of the sleeve or something? I love Fan Art competitions, but I refuse to believe there aren't more talented BlazBlue fans out there. Unless the artist is uncharacteristically young, perhaps there is a narrative involved. . . Either way, bummer.
@damodar Well that was an interesting diversion. Having looked around for a few minutes I came across the artists website detailing the piece that was used for the Calamity Trigger cover, it's an interesting story.
So the guy puts together an entry for a NeoGaf community contest to decide the new cover. His entry wins by a 2:1 landslide and it looked like this:
After the contest was over the artist was put in touch with Zen United (ARC of Europe) and discussions were had leading to a different cover featuring Noel, the original as he created it looks like this:
After submitting that, Zen United told him they loved the cover and wanted to use it but requested adjustments to the gun to make it look more in line with the one in the game and they wanted the brightness and saturation changed to make it more colourful. The artist apparently had a good rapport with Zen United and was able to make the changes they wanted. Which leaves us with the final cover, this one:
When this was announced as the final cover you can imagine the fine folks over at Gaf were less than stoked. The art they had voted on was nowhere to be seen and the one that was chosen had been forced through changes that had stripped its depth and worsened it's composition.
Word is the response was pretty divisive, some loved it and others hated it. Either way it was a better piece before being made suitable for a video game cover. Stuff like this, video game, movie, comic and to a lesser extent book covers require such a particular eye and skill-set that I am not surprised changes needed to be made.
The guy clearly has talent, it's a shame his best wasn't represented in one of his most widely seen pieces.

Thanks for keeping me amused for an hour.
I'm a hetero sexual 22 year old man who enjoyed looking at her tight-packed jeans ass on the cover because it reminds me of good sex, and I like sex, it's enjoyable, the reason most people do it is for pleasure, therefore her ass is pleasant to me.
I must be a sexist predator.

Huh... well I didn't realise there was quite that much to the story, shame it turned out like that. I might need to replace the sleeve with the original Ragna art. Thanks for the info!

Me too.
I wonder where all these internet weekend warriors were when Bayonetta came out?
Oh right, they were playing that game on the One Hand Only difficulty settings, silly me, how could I forget.

plenty of people have problems with bayonetta on that front you know?
and I don't have too much problem with this beyond thinking the cover is boring but eh.
