    RenderWare is an API and graphics rendering engine for video games, developed by Criterion Games.  It originated in an era of software rendering, prior to the appearance of GPUs in computers.

    However, RenderWare has been retired as of the seventh generation of consoles (Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii) as it did not perform well enough in comparison to Epic's Unreal Engine 3.
