I think everyone would agree that RE5 isn't a 'bad' game for the most part. It just comes down to what you can stand or not, if you can deal with it being nothing more than RE4 in HD with co-op added, then I'm sure you're fine. Some people can't though, especially since third person shooters have evolved. Don't give me any "its not a third person shooter " shit either, because that's all it is now, just like RE4 and Dead Space were.

Stay on topic please, Its not a topic about RE5 its a topic about reportedly the next RE game wont come out for another 4-8 years.

Maybe they need some time to figure out where to go next. Maybe playing as the Zombie overloard or something would be a good change. Who knows. Perhaps it is time to just move on.

Agreed staying on topic sucks, Its amazing that this topic had nothing to do with RE5 but hey RE5 is such a GREAT amazing game that it actually NEEDS your support in geting people to like it, It can't stand on its own merits you have to actually POINT out that its good.

How can anyone be mad at the announcement of less Sequelgasms in the games industry? Honestly. This is the essence of this news:

1. We'll have time to not make sequels but original content
2. What sequels we make will not be rushed, but will have time to get some effort poured into.

So. Great news. Rejoice.

i hate when people act all resident evil purist when it comes to RE4. that game revolutionized a genre, be happy it was your favorite franchise that did it. Maybe 8 years is good, but dude, you'll see Resident Evil spinoffs left and right during that time-span.

RE4 took roughly 5 years. Of course, that's because there were several  versions of the game that were scrapped, but the only one other than the finished product that we saw was that E3 demo that looked kind of like silent hill.  Interestingly enough, it seems like a compromise, with the preset camera angles of the old games with the laser sight and over the shoulder view of the new games.

However, that game looks even less like a Resident Evil game than the ones we got (creepy supernatural stuff? What?!), and the old school fanboys that enjoy bitching that RE didn't stay with zombies would have treated it with the same amount of hostility.

Resident Evil 5 took 3 years, and obviously had some parts of it scrapped as well (but not nearly on the same scale). If you see the old trailer you can clearly see some parts that are not in the finished product, and it also seems evident that Sheva wasn't in there either.

In conclusion (tl;dr) it seems that the RE team takes their time with games, which leads to Capcom releasing mediocre spinoff titles in order to sate the masses. But 8 years? I seriously doubt that.

He says things that are hard to believe, when he says that they haven't decided if they will or not make another Resident Evil, it's obvious that he's not telling the truth, after all Resident Evil is one of the game's most reliable franchises these days, they wouldn't just throw it away.

It's natural for a game like Resident Evil to take a considerable amount of time to be made, but eight years is too much, a generation of consoles doesn't even live that long. And would ultimately be an unreliable project too.

I thought the storyline was wrapped up anyways. Does there even need to be a RE 6?

They just need to start a whole new storyline with different characters and call it Resident Evil: Something something.
